Troubleshooting a Galaxy A70 that can’t send MMS

If you’ve been able to send MMS prior to this problem, then you should be able to fix this issue by doing the procedures below. I’ve outlined some solutions for you to follow. We don’t know why this problem occurred so we have to consider all possibilities and then rule them out one by one until we can figure out the reason behind it. Here’s what you need to do:

First solution: Make sure the phone is not in Flight Mode and has reception

When the flight mode is turned on, usually, all wireless communications are disabled and this could be the reason why your new phone can no longer send MMS messages. You will know if it’s enabled if there’s a plane icon beside the signal indicator.

When it comes to wireless communications, signal is everything. So, if your device doesn’t get a good reception, you can expect that things like this would happen especially and MMS messages need a stable connection to the tower since you’re transmitting a large amount of data. Just simply looking at the signal indicator would tell you if the problem is due to bad reception.

After making sure that the Flight Mode and that the reception is good, try sending an MMS to see if the problem is fixed.

Second solution: Force restart your phone

If this problem occurred out of the blue without apparent reason or cause, then it’s probably just a glitch in the system. What you have to do next is the Forced Restart. It’s a simulated battery removal that refreshes your phone’s memory as well as reload all apps and services. If this is indeed just because of a minor firmware glitch, then this procedure will fix it. Here’s how it’s done:

  1. Press and hold the Volume Down button and don’t release it yet.
  2. While holding down the volume button, press and hold the Power key as well.
  3. Keep both keys held down together for 15 seconds or until the Galaxy A70 logo shows on the screen.

Once your phone has finished rebooting, try to see if it still can’t send MMS.

Third solution: Toggle mobile data Off and back On.

Here’s one important thing you need to know when sending MMS or picture messages; mobile data needs to be enabled. If it’s already enabled, then try toggling the switch OFF and then back ON to refresh the connection between your phone and the network.

  1. Open the Apps screen by swiping on an empty spot from the Home screen.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Connections.
  4. Select Data usage.
  5. Tap the Mobile data switch to turn the feature ON or OFF. In this case, it has to be turned on so as to enable mobile data services on your device including MMS sending and receiving.
  6. If it’s already turned on, try to toggle the switch to turn Mobile data off for a few seconds and then tap the switch to turn it back on.

After this, try to send an MMS to your own number and see if it goes and if you can actually receive it. If it still can’t send MMS, then it’s time to refresh all network settings of your device.

Fourth solution: Reset all the Network Settings

After the first three procedures and your Galaxy A70 still can’t send MMS, then this is the next thing that you have to do. Resetting the network settings will address all wireless connectivity issues in your phone. If this just a problem with any of the services, then this will fix the problem and this is how you do it:

  1. Swipe up on an empty spot from the Home screen to open the Apps tray.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap General Management.
  4. Tap Reset.
  5. Select the option to Reset settings.
  6. Alternatively, you can try to Reset network settings to restore network defaults on your phone. It also helps especially if the problem is attributed to an incorrect network setting on your device.
  7. Tap Reset Settings again to continue.
  8. Enter your device PIN, if prompted.
  9. Tap Reset Settings to confirm settings reset.

It’s better to reboot your phone after doing this procedure. Once the restart is done, try to see if your phone can’t send MMS.

Fifth solution: Factory reset your phone that can’t send MMS

After the fourth procedure and your Galaxy A70 still can’t send MMS, then you just backup your files and data, and then reset your phone. This will rectify any problem that has some firmware-related issues. There’s a greater possibility that this is just an issue with the firmware so a reset will be necessary now. Here’s how to effectively reset your phone:

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up and Power keys.
  3. When the Galaxy A70 logo shows, release the keys.
  4. Your Galaxy A70 will continue to boot up into the Recovery Mode. Once you see a black screen with blue and yellow texts, proceed to the next step.
  5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset’.
  6. Press Power button to select.
  7. Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes’ is highlighted.
  8. Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
  9. When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  10. Press the Power key to restart the device.

After the reset, set up your phone as a new device and then try sending an MMS. If the problem continues to buy you, then move on to the next solution.
