Fitbit Charge 3 not receiving notifications from phone

While health trackers like your Fitbit Charge 3 are standalone devices, they’re designed to work side-by-side with your smartphone. We can consider them as an extension of your phone where you can also receive notifications for things you wanted to be alerted about. However, there are times when things don’t work out well so notifications aren’t received. So, in this post, I will walk you through in troubleshooting your Charge 3 that can no longer receive notifications from  your device.

Going back to our troubleshooting, here are the things you need to do if your Fitbit Charge 3 can no longer receive notifications from your phone…

  1. Make sure your tracker is within 20 feet of your phone.
  2. Restart both your phone and your Charge 3.
  3. Troubleshoot problem with only the tracker connected to your phone.
  4. Ensure that Do Not Disturb (DND) feature is disabled.
  5. Restart Fitbit app.
  6. Uninstall and reinstall Fitbit app.
  7. Reset Network Settings in your phone.
  8. Factory Reset your Fitbit Charge 3.

Health trackers rely on the stability of the Bluetooth connection and the first thing you need to ensure while troubleshooting this problem is that range isn’t an issue. So, place both devices on the table and then restart them. When it’s done, the connection between them will also be refreshed so try to see if notifications will show up on your tracker.

Another thing you have to look into is the possibility that other Bluetooth devices are interfering with the connection of your tracker to your phone. So, while you’re troubleshooting this problem, make sure that only your Charge 3 is connected to your device through Bluetooth because if your phone is connected to other devices, that may be the problem. And while you’re doing this, I would also recommend disabling the “Do Not Disturb” feature (and similar features) as that might be the reason why notifications aren’t appearing on your tracker.

Furthermore, restart the Fitbit app on your phone to make sure it’s not app-related. We’ve already made sure it’s not about the connection so this time, let’s rule out the possibility that it’s not an issue with the app. With that being said, I would also recommend uninstalling the Fitbit app and reinstalling it if the problem persists.

After troubleshooting the app and the problem continues, then refresh the connection again but this time, bring the connection settings of your phone back to factory defaults. Most devices will allow you to reset network settings so try doing this on your phone and see what happens. If all else fails, Factory reset your Fitbit Charge 3, reconnect it with your phone and then set up notifications again.
