FCC Listing May Have Revealed the Moto Z5 With a 5,000 Mah Battery

A leak yesterday gave us our first glimpse at the Moto G8 while discussing the hardware specs of the Moto G8 Power, which was revealed to be packing a 5,000 mAh battery. Today, a new revelation is talking about yet another handset by Moto using a 5,000 mAh battery. It’s not uncommon for Moto to launch two similar smartphones, and it’s likely meant for different markets.

Motorola will host a smartphone announcement event on the 23rd of February, just a day ahead of the MWC event in Barcelona. It is said that the company will have four or perhaps more handsets to show off during the course of the event. However, it is said that this particular phone will be revealed much after Moto’s MWC event.

The mention of this new 5,000 mAh battery phone was spotted in the FCC database. The phone is revealed to be packing the model number XT2055-1, leading many to speculate that this may well be a Z series device, possibly the Moto Z5. The report also goes on to mention that this smartphone may support Moto Mods, which is Moto’s accessory that brings additional features (like 5G) to non-compatible devices.

While Moto has continued to launch mid-ranged phones over the past couple of years, the company really pushed the envelope with the announcement of the 2019 Moto razr in November last year. This clamshell phone with a foldable display is currently on pre-order via Verizon for $1,500. On the other hand, Samsung is launching the Galaxy Z Fold next month, with rumors suggesting that the phone could be an AT&T exclusive with a price tag of $1,400 when it reaches the market.
