Easy ways on how to move your iTunes music to your Galaxy S9
There are many reasons why you may want to transfer your iTunes music to your #GalaxyS9. You may be a new Android convert and want to check out a new Samsung experience, or youâre simply trying to back your music up to your new S9. Whatever it is, moving your tunes to your Galaxy S9 can now be done relatively easily. As this post will show you, there a few ways to do that.
Todayâs short tutorial will guide you on how to bring your iTunes music to your Samsung Galaxy S9 using three different methods. There are other ways to move music files but they require that you install third party apps and programs so we wonât recommend them. We canât guarantee that they wonât steal your information so we want to stick to official means. We hope youâll find this short tutorial helpful.
How to transfer your iTunes music to your Galaxy S9
As mentioned above, there are three ways to easily migrate your iTunes music to your new S9. Below are the details on how to do each of them.
Method 1: How to transfer your iTunes music to your Galaxy S9 using Smart Switch
Samsung tries to make it simpler for its users to create backups and move files between devices, even across different platforms, with the use of Smart Switch app. Smart Switch comes pre-installed on your Galaxy S9 but if you are moving files from your PC or Mac, you also need to install it to your computer. You can even transfer files directly from an iOS device to your S9 using Smart Switch.
How to transfer music tunes from iPhone to Samsung S9
There are two ways to move files from your iPhone to your S9 via Smart Switch app — wireless and wired. To transfer files by wireless method, you need to prepare your iCloud backup ahead of time. To do that, follow these steps:
- Connect your iOS device to wifi.
- Open Settings app.
- Go to iCloud.
- Tap Backup.
- Turn on iCloud Backup if it isn’t already turned on.
- Tap Back Up Now.
- Check your backup by tapping Settings > iCloud > Storage > Manage Storage, and then select your device. If you see your most recent backup, then youâre good to go.
Make sure that both devices — iOS and S9 — are charged. Ideally, each of them must have at least 80% battery charge as the transfer can take some time. Once your iCloud account is in order, you can open the Smart Switch app on your Galaxy S9. On Smart Switch app, tap on WIRELESS. Then, tap RECEIVE and touch iOS. Enter your Apple ID and password and sign in. You will then be prompted to choose what contents to transfer. Select the things you want to transfer and tap IMPORT. Afterwards, wait for your data to transfer over. Depending on the amount of data being transferred, it may take a while for this process to be finished.
If you want to move files via USB cable, follow these steps:
Make sure that both devices are charged just like in the previous instruction. Wired transfer requires a Micro USB to USB adapter or OTG cable for your Galaxy S9 so be sure that you have it ahead of time. Then, launch the Smart Switch app on your S9 and tap USB CABLE. Then, connect the two devices using your iOS deviceâs lightning cable. A pop-up messages will appear on your iPhone. When you see it, tap Trust then touch NEXT. Select the content you want to transfer and then touch TRANSFER. Wait with patience until all your contents has be transferred.
If you want to transfer music from your computerâs iTunes, you also need to install Smart Switch to your PC or Mac first. After installing Smart Switch on your computer, you can then use it to drag and drop your music to your S9.
Method 2: How to transfer your iTunes music to your Galaxy S9 by dragging and dropping files
If convenience is all you need when moving files between devices, then the drag and drop method is for you. Aside from being easy to do, this method also gives you a lot of flexibility when it comes to what files you want to transfer. This method is a bit old school for its simplicity and it doesnât require that much else. To use it, you just need to connect your S9 to your computer, select the items to be moved, then drag them to a folder in your S9.
For this method to work, you must have a working USB cable. You can use the USB cable that came with the device. Once you have your S9 connected to the computer, you can start dragging your your songs, albums, or any file to a folder on phone. This folder may be the default music folder on your S9 directory, or a new one that you can create using your computer.
Alternatively, you can also use a microSD card to save your music files to save space on your S9 internal storage. As far as music files go, we highly recommend that you keep them in a microSD card not only to save space but to also give you flexibility in case you want to back them up to your computer, or if you want to add something to your collection later.
Before you can use the drag and drop method though, you want to make sure that you install the necessary Samsung drivers for your S9. We suggest that you get them by installing Samsung Smart Switch. Once you have the app installed, your computer should be able to read your S9 properly afterwards.
Where is iTunes located on your computer?
iTunes program usually installs to a pre-arranged path on a computer. Unless you manually changed this path during installation, these locations should give you an idea where to find your iTunes folder:
- If you have an older Windows XP machine: C:\Documents and Settings\ (username)\ My Documents \My Music \iTunes
- If you have Windows 7, 8, 10 or Windows Vista â C:\ (username) \My Music \iTunes
- If you have Mac OS X â /users /username/ Music/ iTunes
After youâve located the iTunes folder on your computer, you can connect your Galaxy S9 to your computer using the USB cable. Then, make sure that you allow file transfer on your phone by pulling down the notification bar and selecting Media Transfer Protocol on MTP. This should be the final hurdle before allowing your computer to access your phoneâs files and folders.
If you are using a Mac, you need to install the Android File Transfer program first before you can move files to your phone. Then, just like the rest of steps, simply connect your S9 to your Mac using the USB cable and navigate to your iTunes music folder.
Method 3: How to transfer your iTunes music to your Galaxy S9 using Google Play Music
If you want to go all the way Android, you can migrate your music files to Google Play Music. This is a free service from Google that allows you to transfer about 50,000 music titles, all for free. Google Play Music is one of the best options for playing music on your device as it allows you to store your files in the cloud, which means that you can access them anywhere anytime. Google Play Music also allows you to store your music files locally, that is, on your phone or microSD card.
In order to use Google Play Music, you must first upload your iTunes music to the Google cloud. If you have a fast wifi at home, this can be done in a matter of minutes. If you have a slower connection, you can try to upload overnight.
Google Play Music is a pre-installed app on your Galaxy S9 too so you donât really need to install it. To begin uploading your music to Google cloud, access Google Play Music using your web browser. If you can access Google Play Music service, you then need to tap the settings icon at the top left (three-line icon) and scroll down to âupload music.â If prompted to download Music Manager, go ahead. Youâll need this tool to upload your iTunes music files.
After the download, sign in to your Gmail account and start installing Music Manager. Then, follow the on-screen prompts and begin uploading your files from your iTunes folder. Googleâs Music Manager will scan your computer for any music files and offer to upload them to the cloud as well. To control your upload settings, you can go under its Settings > Preferences.
With Google Music app, you can either store your music in the cloud and access them only when you are online, or you can store your files physically to your device (either in internal storage or microSD card). We highly recommend that you keep your music files in the microSD card to avoid consuming a lot of GBs out of your phoneâs internal storage.
