How To Fix Can’t Establish a Secure Connection With Google Play Music Error

Before performing any of the recommended troubleshooting steps listed below its best to reboot your computer. This will refresh the Windows 10 operating system and will usually fix most of the common issues caused by a software glitch.

There are several factors that can cause this problem ranging from the anti-virus software to a server error just to name a few. Perform the following troubleshooting steps listed below to fix this problem.

Disable the antivirus software

The first thing that you will need to do in this case is to eliminate the possibility of the antivirus software causing the problem. There are times when the antivirus software will block the connection to Google’s servers which can lead to this problem.

If you are using Windows Security

  • Select Start  – Settings > Update & Security  – Windows Security – Virus & threat protection > Manage settings
  • Switch Real-time protection to Off.  

If you are using Avast

  • Search for the Avast icon in your computer’s system tray and right-click on it.
  • Click on Avast shields control.
  • Locate the options to disable the program – the options are to disable it for 10 minutes, an hour, until the computer is restarted or permanently (until you yourself turn it back on). Select whatever option suits you best and use it to disable the program.

If you are using AVG

  • Search for the AVG icon in your computer’s system tray and right-click on it.
  • Click on Temporarily disable AVG protection.
  • Choose how long you want AVG to be turned off and whether you want AVG to disable its Firewall too.
  • Click on OK to disable the antivirus program.

If you are using McAfee

  • Search for the McAfee Antivirus icon in your computer’s system tray and right-click on it.
  • Click on Exit.
  • You should see a dialog box warning you that McAfee‘s protection will be turned off. Click on Yes in this dialog box to disable the antivirus program

Upload music files using Music Manager

If this error occurs when using the browser then you can try using Google’s Music Manager.

  • Download Google’s Music Manager software.
  • Open the installation executable and follow the on-screen prompts to install it on your system.
  • When prompted to sign-in, provide the required credentials.
  • You can instruct your Music Manager to scan for music files automatically.
  • Complete the installation by following the on-screen instructions, then click on Go to music player to launch Music Manager.
  • On the Music Manager, go to the Upload tab and click on the Add folder, then navigate to the location of your music files. With the files loaded, simply click the Upload button to send them to your Music Library.

  • Open the installation executable then follow the on-screen prompts to install Google Play Music Desktop Player to your computer.
  • Click the Sign In button and provide your user credentials to log in to your account. 
  • Click on Music library from the right-hand menu, then click on the Add Your Music.
