If this is just an issue with the app, then you should be able to fix it in no time. That said, here’s what you need to do about it:

1. Restart your phone

   If it’s the first time that Zoom crashes, then it’s probably just a minor issue with either the app or the firmware. What you should do first is to restart your phone to refresh its memory and reload all apps and services. But instead of doing the usual reboot, it’s better to do the forced restart. Here’s how: 1. Press and hold the volume down button and the power key for 10 seconds. This will force your device to power off and turn back on. 2. When the logo shows, release both keys and wait until the phone has finished rebooting. When the restart is finished, open Zoom and see if it still crashes immediately after the launch.

2. Reset Zoom

   Perhaps there’s an issue with the app. So the next thing that you have to do is to clear its cache and data. It will bring Zoom back to its default settings and configuration. If it’s just an app issue, then this procedure will be enough to fix it. Here’s how you do it: 1. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to pull up the app drawer. 2. Go to the screen where the Zoom app is located. 3. Tap and hold on its icon until options show. 4. Tap App info. 5. Tap Storage. 6. Touch Clear cache. 7. Touch Clear data and tap OK to confirm. After doing this, open the app again to see if it still crashes. You may have to log into your account again. 

3. Reinstall Zoom

   After resetting the app and it still crashes when opened, what you have to do next is to uninstall it and then reinstall it back. This will remove all cache and data files that may have been corrupted, and reinstalling it will ensure that you have the latest version of the app. This is how it’s done: 1. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to pull up the app drawer. 2. Go to the screen where the Zoom app is located. 3. Tap and hold on its icon until options show. 4. Tap Uninstall and confirm it. 5. Once the app is successfully uninstalled, launch the Play Store. 6. Search for ‘zoom’ and tap the Zoom Cloud Meetings app. 7. Tap Install and wait until the phone has finished installing the app. Once the app is successfully installed, open it and try to log in. Most of the time this kind of problem ends with this procedure. However, if the app continues to crash even after this, then move on to the next solution.

4. Factory reset your phone

   It is possible that there’s an issue with your phone’s firmware that affected some apps. That might be the reason why Zoom crashes, and there could be other apps that also crash without you knowing about it. So the next thing you need to do is to reset your phone. Prior to the reset, make sure to backup your files and data as they will all be deleted. When ready, reset your phone and then set it up as a new device.
