Owning a high-end smartphone doesn’t mean you’re totally free from having troubles. One of the most prevalent issues smartphone users have been dealing with since the emergence of these gadgets is on power problem. In fact, you can see a lot of relevant complaints raised by owners of different devices online, from low-range to high-end models. In this particular post, I’ve tackled a pertinent issue transpiring on the Huawei Mate 10 Lite smartphone. Read on to find out what to do if ever you too will bump into the same trouble wherein all of a sudden your new Huawei Mate 10 Lite won’t turn on.

Before you troubleshoot software issues that might have prevented your device from turning on, try to do and check the following:
- Verify if your device charges. Power issues may likewise be attributed to charging problems like when your device has completely run out of power but unable to charge. You might think that your phone is busted but actually it’s just not charging. So what you’re actually dealing with is a charging issue. That being said, verify and ensure that your phone is able to charge. To do so, plug it into the charger and power source. Physical or liquid damage on the phone can be the main reason why it’s dead and in that case, service would be necessary. This is most likely the case if your phone was accidentally dropped or got wet previously.
Solutions to fix your Huawei Mate 10 Lite that won’t turn on
Below are some workarounds you can try on if you wish to troubleshoot software problems that might have prevented your Huawei Mate 10 Lite from turning on.
First workaround: Charge your phone for at least 30 minutes.
Sometimes, it would take time for the charging indicator to show up on the screen when the phone was totally drained and wasn’t charged right away. The same thing can happen if any of your apps go rogue or files get corrupted. Rogue apps and corrupted files may likewise affect the phone charging system thereby causing unusual delay in the charging process. Should this be the case, patience is key. So give your device more time to finally be able to recharge.
Second workaround: Force your phone to reboot while charging.

- While your phone charges, simultaneously press and hold the Power button and the Volume Up button for about 10 to 20 seconds or until the Huawei logo appears.
By then your device should already be back up and running again. If that doesn’t work, then try the next applicable workarounds.
Third workaround: Remove any SD card from your phone the re-attempt to power on.
SD card data segments that are ruined or get corrupted can likewise affect some of your phone’s key functions including the bootup process. You might have heard about some computers that won’t boot up due to a corrupted SD card or external storage media in it. The same thing can happen to a smartphone with a corrupted SD card inserted. The boot up process couldn’t be completed unless the faulty SD card is removed. So if you happen to have an SD card inserted in your phone, try to remove the card and power it back on afterwards. If the problem continues, then move on and try other possible solutions.
Fourth workaround: Connect your phone to a computer.
To see whether or not your phone system is still working or not, try connecting your device to a computer via USB cable. If the computer is able to detect your phone, then attempt to access the system files, and then back up your important data. This could be the last chance for you to access your files again as your device system needs a complete reset or restore.
If your computer does not recognized or failed to detect your phone even when it’s properly connected, then you may now consider opting for physical repair. Your device must have been damaged and therefore needs service.
Fifth workaround: Perform a factory data reset (if applicable).
Considering that you were able to turn your phone back on, what you can do next is to reset your device and restore it to factory default settings. This may be necessary to prevent the same issue from coming back. Something must have halted the device’s power system from carrying out its usual routine as smoothly as it should and that something could be a more complex system glitch or bug, which can effectively be cleared out by a full system reset. So if you’re able to get it back to life, then use this chance to perform a master reset with this subsequent procedure.
Back up all your important data and personal information saved in the internal memory of your phone. All these contents along with any errors, bugs, and malwares are to be obliterated in the process.
With the backup file secured, proceed with the master reset through these steps:
- Tap the Menu icon from the Home screen.
- Tap Settings.
- Select Advanced Settings.
- Tap Backup & Reset.
- Scroll to and tap to select Factory data reset from the given options.
- Tap the option to Reset phone.
- Then tap Reset phone again to confirm reset.
Alternatively you can reset your device through the Huawei Recovery Menu. It’s a bit more tedious and longer than the prior method but you may find it more effective so here’s how it’s done:
- With your phone turned off, simultaneously press and hold the Volume Up and Power buttons for a few seconds.
- When the Huawei logo appears, release both the buttons at once.
- From the Recovery mode menu, use the Volume buttons to navigate to different options and the Power button to confirm selection.
- Continue by pressing the Volume Down button to select/highlight the option to Wipe data/factory reset.
- Then press the Power button to confirm selection.
- Press the Volume Down button to highlight wipe data/factory reset from the given options.
- Then press the Power button to confirm.
- Wait until the reset is finished and when it’s done, the Reboot system now option is highlighted.
- At this point, press the Power button to reboot your phone and apply the recent changes.
After your phone successfully boots up, all settings and options are restored to their original default values. You may then proceed with the initial device setup to configure and use your phone again.
If none of the prior methods helps and that your Huawei Mate 10 Lite still doesn’t turn on, then you should have it diagnosed by a technician. Having said that, take your phone to an authorized service center for hardware assessment and/or repair, if necessary. If your phone is still under warranty, then you may avail for service warranty, battery replacement or whatever solutions the technician recommends to save your device.
