What to do if Galaxy Note10+ is running slow | fix for slow performance issue

Is your Galaxy Note10+ slow? There are a number of troubleshooting steps that you need to do in order to identify the cause of this problem. This guide will help you with that.

Galaxy Note10+ running slow fix #1: Turn off apps

If your Galaxy Note10+ is running slow and you have no idea what to do, the first thing that you want to do is to see if the system is being overwhelmed by high number of apps. Although your Galaxy Note10+ is equipped to handle high volume apps, this does not always happen. To ensure that you put apps in control, close all of them and see if there’s a difference. If you don’t want to manually close all apps, you can try to selectively do so by going after big, resource-demanding apps first like games or social media apps. To close an app on the Galaxy Note10+:

  1. Tap the Recent Apps key, which is left of the home button on your screen (shown above)
  2. Scroll up or down to see what’s running and open
  3. Swipe from the left or right to close apps
  4. Swipe it off the screen to close it
  5. This will clear the app

If you want to just simply close all apps:

  1. Tap the Recent Apps key, which is left of the home button on your screen (shown above)
  2. Scroll up or down to see what’s running and open
  3. Select Close All button at the bottom of the screen.

Galaxy Note10+ running slow fix #2: Optimize device

Your Galaxy Note10+  packs a punch. Hardware-wise, it’s one of the fastest devices in the market today. If you recently noticed that it seems to be slowing down when you open apps or whenever it does a task, there may be a bug that causes it. The first thing that you want to do about this issue is to ensure that you optimize the system. There’s a default system option to do this. Follow the steps below.

  1. Open Settings app.
  2. Tap Device Care.
  3. Tap Optimize Now button.
  4. Tap Done when finished.

Sometimes, lack of storage space in internal memory can cause the system to work sluggishly. Once you’ve optimized the device, tap on Storage below the Optimized button. At the top section, you should see the estimated remaining storage space. If you’re running low on space, make sure to delete some files. In order for the system to work normally, there should be at least 1GB of storage left. If you badly needed space, you can move non-system critical files like photos, videos, audio, or documents to your computer or to an SD card.

Galaxy Note10+ running slow fix #3: Restart device

Forcing your Galaxy Note+ to reboot is another way to sometimes fix this type of problem. This can work if the cause of the problem is a temporary bug that causes the system to freeze or become unresponsive. If you haven’t tried this yet, be sure that you do it this time. Try restarting it normally first by pressing the Power button to access the boot menu. Then, select Restart option and see if that works.

Another way to restart the device is by pressing and holding the Volume Down button and the Power key at the same time for 10 seconds or until the device’s screen turns on. This simulates the effect of having disconnected the battery from the device. If this works, this may unlock the device.

If doing the regular restart won’t help, then try this:

  1. Press and hold the Volume Down button first and don’t release it.
  2. While holding it down, press and hold the Power key.
  3. Keep both keys held down for 10 seconds or more.

The second restart procedure tries to simulate the effects of removing the battery pack. On older devices, disconnecting the battery is often an effective way in fixing unresponsive devices. If nothing changed though, proceed to the next suggestions.

Rebooting your device regularly at least once every week can be beneficial. If you tend to forget things, we suggest that you configure your phone to reboot on its own. You can schedule it to do this task by doing these steps:

  1. Open Settings app.
  2. Tap Device Care.
  3. Tap the 3-dot at the top.
  4. Select Auto restart.

Galaxy Note10+ running slow fix #4: Clear cache partition

If Galaxy Note10+ is running slow after installing updates or apps, there may be a problem with the system cache. To see if there’s a system cache problem, try to clear the cache partition. This is a portion of your internal storage that keeps the system cache. Sometimes, updates or app installation may corrupt the system cache and cause problems. Fortunately, problems coming from a bad system cache can easily be fixed by simply clearing the cache partition. This will erase the system cache so the system can rebuild a new one as you use the device. If you haven’t tried this one yet, here’s how to do it:

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby / Power key.
  3. When the green Android logo displays, release both keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  4. The Recovery screen menu will now appear. When you see this, release the buttons.
  5. Use the Volume Down button until you are highlighting ‘Wipe cache partition.’
  6. Press the Power button to select ‘Wipe cache partition.’
  7. Use Volume Down to highlight Yes.
  8. Press the Power button to confirm the action to clear the cache.
  9. Wait for a second as the system wipes the cache.
  10. Press the Power button again to reboot the device. This will return the device to the normal interface.
  11. That’s it!

Galaxy Note10+ running slow fix #5: Install updates

Installing updates can sometimes be an effective way to fix known problems. If you have pending updates at this time, you want to make sure that you install them. This goes true for both software and app updates. Be default, the Galaxy Note10+ is set to automatically tell you if there’s an available update, either for the software or apps. If you change this setting before, you can go ahead and manually check for updates.

To see if there’s software update available, go under Settings > Software updates.

For app updates, simply open the Play Store app and install updates for your apps from there.

Galaxy Note10+ running slow fix #6: Check for overheating

If your Galaxy Note10+ started running slow after noticing that the device is overheating, there may be a serious cause for it. It may be bad hardware or an unknown software bug. Overheating is usually a sign of other problems so you may have to do more troubleshooting to know where the issue is coming from. Sometimes, a bad app or malware may slow the system down and cause overheating as well. You may need to fix the overheating issue first in order to resolve the slow performance problem on your Galaxy Note10+.

Galaxy Note10+ running slow fix #7: Boot to Safe Mode

Bad apps may sometimes cause problems. If your Galaxy Note10+ started running slow after installing an app, delete the said app and see if the problem goes away. If you can’t recall the app, try to restart to safe mode. In this mode, all third party apps, that is, apps you added after setting up the phone, will be suspended. If your Galaxy Note10+ works normally when it is running on safe mode, you can assume one of the third party apps is to blame. These are the steps to restart to safe mode:

  1. Turn the device off.
  2. Press and hold the Power key past the model name screen appearing on the screen.
  3. When SAMSUNG appears on the screen, release the Power key.
  4. Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume down key.
  5. Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.
  6. When Safe mode appears in the bottom left corner of the screen, release the Volume down key.
  7. Let your phone run, pull up camera app, and check for the problem.

If there is no problem at all and your Galaxy Note10+ works normally only on safe mode, you can continue to narrow down the suspected apps with these steps:

  1. Boot to safe mode.
  2. Check for the problem.
  3. Once you’ve confirmed that a third party app is to blame, you can start uninstalling apps individually. We suggest that you begin with the most recent ones you added.
  4. After you uninstall an app, restart the phone to normal mode and check for the problem.
  5. If your Galaxy Note10+ is still problematic, repeat steps 1-4.

Galaxy Note10+ running slow fix #8: Factory Reset

You’ll need to factory reset your device if none of the solutions above won’t work. If the reason for camera problems on your Galaxy Note10+ is software in nature, there’s a big chance that master or factory reset will help.

Below are the two ways to factory reset your Note10+:

Method 1: How to hard reset on Samsung Galaxy Note10+ via Settings Menu

This is the easiest way to wipe your Galaxy Note10+. all you have to do is to go under Settings menu and follow the steps below. We recommend this method if you have no trouble going under Settings.

  1. Create a backup of your personal data and remove your Google account.
  2. Open Settings app.
  3. Scroll to and tap General management.
  4. Tap Reset.
  5. Select Factory data reset from the given options.
  6. Read the information then tap Reset to continue.
  7. Tap Delete All to confirm action.

Method 2: How to hard reset on Samsung Galaxy Note10+ using hardware buttons

If your case is that the phone is not booting up, or it boots but Settings menu is inaccessible, this method can be helpful. First, you need to boot the device to Recovery Mode. Once you successfully access Recovery, that’s the time that you begin proper master reset procedure. It may take some tries for you before you can access Recovery so be patient and simply try again.

  1. If possible, create a backup of your personal data ahead of time. If your problem prevents you from doing that, then simply skip this step.
  2. Also, you want to make sure that you remove your Google account. If your problem prevents you from doing that, then simply skip this step.
  3. Turn off the device. This is important. If you can’t turn it off, you’ll never be able to boot to Recovery Mode. If you are not able to shut the device off regularly via the Power button, wait until the phone’s battery is drained. Then, charge the phone for 30 minutes before booting to Recovery Mode.
  4. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby / Power key.
  5. When the green Android logo displays, release both keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  6. The Recovery screen menu will now appear. When you see this, release the buttons.
  7. Use the Volume Down button until you are highlighting ‘Wipe data/factory reset.’
  8. Press the Power button to select ‘Wipe data/factory reset.’
  9. Use Volume Down to highlight Yes.
  10. Press the Power button to confirm factory reset.
  11. Follow the rest of the instructions to finish the task.

Galaxy Note10+ running slow fix #9: Repair

Should none of the suggestions above work, there may be a deeper reason why you have camera problems on your Galaxy Note10+. Visit your local Samsung store or Service Center so the phone can be examined.
