- If the source console is broken or damaged, transferring data is not possible.
- The Nintendo Switch where to transfer the data must be nearby or close to the other console.
- The system menu version of both consoles should be 8.0 or higher.
- Transferring save data is only possible for users who are linked to the same Nintendo Account.
- Once the save data has been transferred, the save data will be automatically deleted on the source console.
- Save data cannot be merged between users.
How to Transfer Data to a New Nintendo Switch

Access the source Nintendo Switch console where the save data is located and do these steps:
- Go to the Home Menu.
- Select System Settings icon.
- Scroll down and select Data Management.
- On the right pane, select Transfer Your Save Data.
- Select Send Save Data to Another Device.
- Choose the User profile that has the save data you want to transfer.

- Select Send Save Data.

- Select System Settings from the Home Menu.
- Scroll down and select Data Management.
- Select Transfer Your Save Data.
- Select Receive Save Data.

Important Note Before Transferring User Data Between Nintendo Consoles
Aside from the save data, User data can be transferred between Nintendo Switch consoles. The user must ensure that both consoles have all the following requirements:
- The source console and the target console must be closed to each other and connected to the internet.
- The source system and the target system must have a system menu version of 4.0 or higher.
- The target console should only have a maximum of seven users for the user data from the source system to be transferred successfully.
- The source system and target system need to transfer user information and save data.
- The target system must have enough free space to accommodate user data files from the source system.
- Any downloadable software purchased by the user you intend to move will not be available on the source console after the transfer is completed.
How to Transfer Your User Data to a Different Nintendo Switch
After the source system and the target system are ready, you can begin to transfer your user data by the steps below.
From the source Nintendo Switch console:
- Select System Settings on the Home Menu of the Nintendo console.
- Scroll down and select Users.
- Choose Transfer Your User on the right pane.
- Click Next.
- Select Next again.
- Select Source Console.
- Click Continue.
On the target Nintendo Switch console:
- Select System Settings from the Home Menu.
- Select Users.
- Choose Transfer Your User.
- Click Next.
- Click Next again.
- Select Target Console.
- Choose Sign In and enter your Nintendo Account login credentials.
- Click Next.
Go back to the source Nintendo Switch:
- Once the target console is detected, select Transfer.
- Select End after the transfer of data is complete. The data should now be automatically removed from the source console.
