Syncing contacts means that your contacts in your address book get copied and synchronized to the Cloud storage and any other devices that are signed in with the same account. This is one of the modern methods of updating or creating backups of your contacts from one device to other storage media and other devices. Having said that, it is imperative to sync your phone’s contacts with your cloud account like Google. That way, you’d still be able to recover all of your contacts even if something happens to the phone.

While account syncing is recommended for safekeeping, frequent account synchronization may also yield a negative outcome particularly on the phone’s battery life. To address this concern, an auto-sync feature is schemed to prompt the device to auto-sync data at a certain period of time.

You can access and manage account sync settings and enable auto-sync as you would prefer. To do this, just head over to Settings-> Accounts and backup-> Accounts menu and then tap the option to Auto-Sync Personal Data. On the sync settings, just tap the switch to enable auto sync data.

If you encounter some errors when attempting to sync or the contacts failed to sync for some reason, check and ensure that your phone has a stable internet connection. Intermittent or slow connectivity may also affect or halt the syncing process. If prompted with a warning or error message, read and review the message details as they often tell you what went wrong and what needs to be done in order to rectify the error and get things back to work properly again.
