S9 Stops Sending Text Message
Problem: Basically the issue with the phone is that occasionally it will just stop being able to send texts. it happens almost daily now, a reset always fixes it or reseating the SIM card also resolves it. but after a couple hours or a day or so it starts doing it again. Doesn’t seem to matter what app is being used to send the texts either. Side one since the SMS started having issue there has also been a weird thing that happens when I get a phone call. It gives me the option to “Pull the call” I have found others online that have had the same issue but havent found a solution yet. Verizon doesn’t seem to have an idea either.
Solution: If the problem temporarily gets fixed by restarting the phone then this is most likely caused by some form of corrupt software data. You should try clearing the cache and data of the text messaging app from the application manager then check if the issue still occurs. It’s also best to check if the problem occurs when you are in a different location. This way you will be able to eliminate any signal related issues that could be causing this problem.
In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will have to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
S9 Not Sending Text Messages
Problem: My S9 is over a month old, everything is up to date and I don’t have a lot of stuff downloaded taking up alot of space. I am having an issue sending texts. Thinking it was the Sprint network I let it go. After about 12 hours of the same problem I reset my phone. Suddenly I could send messages. I also then realized that I had not been receiving texts being sent to me because I received 30 plus texts that people had been sending all day. This has happened 3 times since then and I can’t understand why it works one minute then suddenly I have to reset my phone in order to send or receive texts. Also, I do restart my phone once a week to 10 days when it prompts me to anyways.
Solution: If the problem gets fixed after you do a reset then it’s very likely that this is caused by a software glitch. I suggest doing another factory reset ( make sure to backup your phone data) but this time do not install any apps in your phone. Use your phone normally then check if the same issue still occurs. If it doesn’t then you might have installed an app that is causing the problem.
In case the issue persists then the other factors that can be causing this problem are as follows.
- Poor network signal in your area.
- SIM card problem.
- Hardware issue ( if this is the case you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked).
S9 Not Receiving Text Message From Premium Numbers
Problem: Hello TDG – Recently changed carriers from Verizon to Xfinity Mobile and in the process went from an S4 to an S9 phone. Successfully transferred data from the S4 to the S9 using Samsung’s Smart Switch – easy peasy. However, when sending text messages (example: contest entry) to a 5 digit code, I no longer receive a contest receipt acknowledgment, which I did before with the S4 on Verizon. I do have the premium SMS set to “always allow”; the message does not show a “failed” send. There is a timestamp that it went somewhere! I even deleted the previous transferred 5-digit code from the text set and “started fresh” by inputting the 5-digit number and creating a new text stream, but that do not result in receiving the receipt message. What to do? Thanks!
Solution: If the premium text message has been successfully sent then there’s no reason why you won’t be able to receive a text message from a premium number. Try checking if you have any blocked messages set in your phone.
- From the home screen, select the Messages app.
- Select the Menu icon, then select Settings.
- Select Block numbers and messages.
- To view blocked messages, select Blocked messages.
If your phone does not have any blocked messages then you should contact your carrier regarding this problem.
