S9 Screen Has Dead Spots
Problem: Dead spots on my screen, can not unlock phone because the dead spot sits over the pattern on the unlock screen. Have had to turn phone off numerous times before the pattern worked, I’ve then tried to go into the settings to change unlock to pin so I can unlock the phone but the pattern isn’t registering again because of the dead spot. Apps are also non responsive, flicker, zoom in and out and I cannot come out of them without turning the phone off. I cannot use WhatsApp properly because the keyboard has a mind of its own and gives me random words that include letters and numbers. Really disappointed
Solution: If you have a phone case or screen protector installed in your phone then I suggest that you try removing this first as this might be causing the problem.
You should also check if the problem is caused by a software glitch by performing the steps listed below.
- Check if the issue occurs in Safe Mode. If it doesn’t then the problem could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone just yet. Try checking first if the issue still occurs.
In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S9 Green Screen After Factory Reset
Problem: How can the the S9 be reset with a completely bad display that only shows a greenish blanked screen when powered on but the phone works fine? Hard reset using the combinations or even removal of google account cannot be done as the screen is unreadable. It’s a new phone that wants to be returned to the seller but has personal data on it. Smart Switch software does not allow connection and only displays a message about not being the real owner. Location is currently turned off so device could not be located for remote wipe via google find my device service. I can get a replacement but the seller or new owner may be unable to use the phone since it is currently locked to my account. Advise please. Thanks in advance.
Solution: Since this is most likely a hardware related problem already the best thing that you can do is to have the phone repaired at a service center first. The display assembly of the phone might need to be replaced first in order for the device to work.
S9 Screen Display Is Blurry
Problem: My screen is not flickering, but rather, is jumping up and down, The brightness level seems constant, but it looks like someone is behind the screen, shaking it up and down very, very fast, so that the display I see is very blurry. The problem starts and stops intermittently. sometimes it is so bad that I can’t read the screen, but other than that (ha) I can use it. I tried the first two suggestions you have on flickering screen, including deleting apps I have installed recently, but the problem still came back. I am not aware of dropping the phone anytime recently. I would be so, so grateful if you can help!
Solution: Try checking if the issue occurs when the phone is started in Safe Mode. If the problem does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it. If the problem occurs even in Safe Mode then backup your phone data and do a factory reset.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component. The best thing you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S9 Screen Brightness Randomly Changes
Problem: Brightness control malfunction.. at times the control does not respond and the phone goes to full bright … the red colour is too bright and colour adjustment on responsive screen not working also blue light filter not working only works on 3rd party apps.
Solution: The first that you will need to do in this case is to check if an app you installed is causing the problem. To do this start the phone in Safe Mode. If the issue does not occur in this mode then the problem could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
In case the problem still occurs even in Safe Mode then you should backup your phone data and do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete immediately check if the issue still occurs. If it does then you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
