S9 Not Receiving All Text Messages

Problem: HI. THANKS FOR OFFERING THIS SERVICE..PLEASE READ THIS. ..My entire family just stopped a 15 year relationship with with Verizon wireless after a bill dispute they would not fix. We all had S8 phones with Verizon.. We just switched to Tmobile and all got the standard S9 phones. As soon as we changed to the T Mobile with S9 phones All of my family is NOT seeing and getting all text messages for some reason.? The incoming texts aren’t displayed as per usual and are easily missed . This behavior not like this prior to our switch. We all did the over air updates and tried resetting our phones by doing complete the erasing reformat method. We all also turn the phones completely off for few mins then turn back on several times weekly. (I don’t know our android version) In addition , We all are using the same messaging apps carried over from the S8 phone that we all had, These messaging Apps ARE NOT functioning anywhere nearly as well as they did on the previous Verizon network with the S8 phones. Another issue is A LOT of incoming calls go straight to voicemail and the receiving phones do NOT ring. I took all phones to Tmobile and explained issues to clerk , and after he looked at settings he said all is well and has no fix to offer.. it is very strange that we all have different selection of applications installed on all of our phones but yet all my family’s phones are doing the same thing as far as this “not receiving texts and not being able to see them immediately Upon receipt ” Now my family is giving me grief since I initiated this change of us leaving Verizon / S8 phones and moved us to TMOBILE with S9 phones.. The Tmobile people ASSURED me I would get great if not better all around service using Tmobile with the S9.. This isn’t true and I can’t go back to Verizon since they screwed me and refused to make it right. . To close , Can you make a few suggestions on how to fix the text and call issues that I described above. Perhaps there’s a better message app to assist the text issues you could suggest.

Solution: The first thing you will need to do in this case is to check if the phone is getting a strong and stable signal in your area. If he phone is getting a spotty network signal then this problem will usually occur. You should also check if the problem occurs in a specific area alone by going to a different location. If the problem only occurs in a specific area  then the problem could be caused by an issue with the network in that area.

To check if the problem is caused by a software glitch the best thing that you can do is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. Instead, try to check first if the problem will still occur. In case it does then this might either be caused by a hardware issue or a network issue. The best thing to do right now is to have the phone checked at a service center.

S9 Text Message Notification Not Showing After Software Update

Problem: Samsung S9 with Verizon. Since the latest Oreo update my text messages no longer pop up on my screen or over my locked screen. I have all the settings set to do so but can’t get any to pop up on screen and they come in it over locked screen. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Solution: If you have already made sure that the notification settings of the phone are set properly then this issue is most likely caused by old software data that has not been completely removed from the phone during the update process. The best way to fix this problem is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S9 Text Messages Are Received In Random Order

Problem: My Samsung galaxy S9 lists texts in random order. I miss many messages because I have no clue where to find them. I mess with settings and they will list in reverse chronological order then a few days later I will hear that I missed a text from someone then if I scroll until I find their name or phone number I will see the missing message. I want them to be as received so I can find them

Solution: This problem is usually caused by a wrong time and date setting on the phone. You will need to make sure that the phone acquires the time and date settings form the network.

  • From a Home screen, swipe up or down from the center of the display to access the apps screen.
  • Go to Settings – General management > Date and time.
  • To use network-provided values, ensure that Automatic date and time is on

If the time and date setting is already correct but the issue still persists then try clearing the cache and data of the text messaging app from the application manager. If this does not work then I suggest that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
