S9 Has Grey Lines On Screen

Problem: Hi. I have a S9 phone and I had it in this waterproof pouch during a swimming event. Somehow, the double ziplock of the pouch still allowed water to come in. I am pretty sure the phone is  water resistant. Upon noticing, I quickly got it out of the pouch and noticed that it was working fine with a white/gray lines running across the bottom section of the screen. That’s when I got scared because the ports underneath like headset, power, and speakers might have been the entrance of water. I turned the device off and removed the sim and memory cards from the device. I dried the device of. Since I was pretty concerned and was out of availability for research since I was away from home I ended up powering the device on.  It was still the same as before. When I got home I got some rice and a blow dryer. Again, I did not know what I was doing and just wanted it to become as dry as possible. When I read several articles after, I got shocked because they put that as a don’t. I powered the device on and found more lines on the front of the screen. I currently have the phone in rice. What should I do? I was hoping to wait for 24 hours and if the problem isn’t resolved, I will take it to a shop. Surprisingly the phone is still working when I powered it one before. But the speakers are quite ruined. Please help me. I am so stressed, this phone is still not completely paid for. Thank you very much. (I am not sure about the Android Version, it is either an oreo or nougat)

Solution: Although this phone has a water resistant feature ( IP68 certification) there are still instances when water can enter the device causing damage to certain components. Since the phone display has grey lines right after it got wet then this is most likely caused by a water damaged component. The best thing that you can do right now is to place the phone in a bag of rice for at least 48 hours. The rice will absorb the moisture inside the phone. Once this is done try to check if the issue still occurs. If it does then this can be properly addressed at a service center.

S9 Display Not Working After Replacing The Battery

Problem: Hi there, I was so happy to find this article. I recently followed YouTube video teaching how to replace the battery for S9, however after replacing the battery, the phone display doesn’t turn on. The battery charges but when I plug in the cable to charge it takes about 10-15 seconds before the red light comes on, while before it was pretty much instant. After charging for 1 hour, I tried to turn on the phone and the phone display doesn’t turn on and all I see is a solid blue light. I tried holding power button + volume down which before would force the phone to restart and a white light will appear, however it no longer does that and nothing happens. I’m thinking I may have somehow damaged the display during the part while removing the middle frame, however if that’s the case then at least it would still be able to force restart or respond to other button commands. During the part when taking out the screws from the back, there was a part where the back plate chipped off so it was blocking one of the screws so I had to use a flat head to shave off that part to reveal the screw, there is a possibility that I may have damaged the middle frame with the screwdriver. I want to know would the middle frame being damaged cause the issues that I’m experiencing right now? I ordered a middle frame replacement which should arrive in a few weeks but I’m hoping I can get some expert advice on how to troubleshoot and pinpoint the exact issue I’m experiencing. I already read many articles and advices from other users, but none fit my problem exactly but I tried anyways to no avail. I also tried putting back the old battery and it does the same thing. I would really appreciate any help on this.

Solution: I highly doubt if a chipped middle fram is causing this problem. This could be due to a ribbon wire that connects the display to the phone motherboard becoming loose or it could have been damaged during the battery replacement procedure. Another possibility is that a component got damaged by electrostatic discharge. There’s also the possibility that the display itself got damaged. It’s going to be difficult to pinpoint the exact cause of this problem unless you have the correct tools available. The best thing that you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
