S9 Encryption Failed Error

Problem: I have the new s9, it required an update which I did however when turning back on it asked for an encryption password which I have no idea what that is?! Too many wrong attempts later and it’s trying to do a factory reset but keeps looping back to the reset page with the text “encryption failed. Unable to start up your device the encryption process was interrupted. You need to reset your device to factory default settings. This will erase all data.” The reset button provided keeps coming back to this same message!

Solution: The best way to fix this problem is to start your phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset. Take note that all of your phone data will be deleted once you do this.

  • Turn off the phone
  • Hold down Volume Up + Bixby + Power key for a few seconds.
  • Release all keys if you see the SAMSUNG logo.
  • When the Android Robot with “No command” pops up should tap on the screen.
  • In Recovery Mode choose “wipe data/factory reset”. Use Volume keys to scroll down and the Power button to accept it.
  • Select “Yes — delete all user data” and confirm it with the Power key.
  • Select “reboot system now” by using the Power button.

S9 Randomly Turning Off

Problem: Hi Team, I have a Samsung galaxy S9 . About a week ago I started experiencing the below problems

– phone would randomly turn off and then on again

– phone screen would become unresponsive to touch

– Apps would freeze and become unresponsive, i would often have to remove battery to restart phone. There seems to be no distinct app that causes this

– Sections of phone screen would disappear and be covered by small black/white pixels, sections from the top of the phone would jump around to the bottom and vice versa, often the whole screen would be pixelated and then the phone would turn off.

To begin with these problems may have only happened 1 or twice a day, however now I can barely use my phone for more than 30 seconds before it will freeze up, sometimes simply hitting the lock button will help these but usually the phone will need to be restarted. I have tried clearing my cache and doing a soft reset. Just wondering if you would have any other tips of suggestions for me? If you need any further information please let me know

Solution: Do you have a microSD card installed in your phone? If you do have one then try removing it first as this might be causing the problem.

Another possible factor that can cause this problem is an app that you installed in your phone. To check if this is the case you will have to start the phone in Safe Mode. Observe if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it’s very likely that an app you downloaded is causing the problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

One last troubleshooting step to consider is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Do not install any apps in your phone yet before doing the reset. Try to check first if the issue still occurs.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then this might already be caused by a hardware component that is failing to work properly. The best thing to do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S9 System UI Has Stopped Working

Problem: I have had several occasions where I have to restart my phone when I come in from the lock screen. When I get to the screen to scan my fingerprint to unlock the phone it flashes back to a black screen then back to the security login screen. If I try to scan my fingerprint I get an error message “System UI has stopped” with an option to “Close app”. Pressing “Close app” does nothing. The only option is to restart. I’ve had this phone for a week and had this problem ten times. What do I need to do to fix this?

Solution: The best way to fix this problem is to start the phone in Safe Mode. from here go to Settings then go to Applications. Select the “Show System Applications” tab then find System Interface then clear the data and cache of this app. Restart the phone then check if the issue still occurs. In case the problem persists then you will have to start the phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data.
