S8+ Only Charges From Computer USB Port

Problem: Hello, I have a 10 months old Galaxy S8+ – the type C charger cable had been deteriorating during a 2 months period until it didn’t charge anymore – the phone got very hot when I used to charge it with that cable – I changed the cable with a new one and it will only charge the phone if it is turned off, but with interruptions. – tried a brand new original adapter with new cable, it won’t charge at all – works fine if charging from laptop usb or car charger, but no fast charge, why won’t normal adapters work? I hope It was detailed enough, Thanks.

Solution: It’s very likely that the problem is caused by a faulty phone charging port. To troubleshoot this issue try cleaning the charging port using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in this port. Try checking if the phone can charge with a wall charger. If the problem still persists then it’s likely that one of the pins  of the charging port is damaged. You will need to have the charging port checked and possibly replaced at a service center.

S8+ Is Not Charging

Problem: Hello, I have a problem with my Samsung S8 plus It is not recharging. The gray-white battery charging symbol comes up, it even goes to show 0% charge and say that it will take 1h 20min to charge (using the Samsung Fast Charger), but it never accumulates any charge. It remains on 0%. If I try to start it, it does start but as soon as it loads the home screen it says it has 0% charge and it shuts down. I should mention that I forgot it outside for about 45 min during a very light rain drizzle, so it got a bit wet; so i wonder if this created a problem… however, if something short circuited, i would expect it would not even load at all. I’d appreciate any advice.

Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this case is to clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in this port as this can interfere with the charging process. Once this is done check if the phone can charge. If it doesn’t then proceed with the additional troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Try using a different charging cord and wall charger to charge the phone.
  • Try charging the phone from a computer USB port. If the phone charger then one of the pins of the charging port might be damaged.
  • Try using a wireless charger. If the phone charges then the charging port of the phone could be damaged.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S8+ Not Turning On After Factory Reset

Problem: I did a factory reset on my phone, as in just pressed factory reset then set the phone down. When I checked it about an hour later the startup page was ok ie., time display, battery life 40% and signal. Set it down again & thought I must fully charge it later. About 2/3 hours later tried to charge phone but it is completely dead nothing at all. I have tried all the advice for all the reboot soft & hard charging overnight but still nothing. Can you advise anything else please ? Thank you

Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this case is to make sure that the phone battery has sufficient charge by following the steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air.
  • Charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using a wall charger. If the phone does not charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You can also check if the phone can charge from a computer USB port.

Once the battery has sufficient charge try turning on the phone by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds.

If the phone still does not turn on then you should have this checked at a service center.

S8+ Battery Charges Slowly

Problem: Hi there. I was charging my phone like normal connected to bluetooth to the car etc. Then is suddenly started heating up and i let it charge to 90%. 3 hr later i tried charging it and it kept coming up with a message that there was moisture detected not allowing me to charge the phone which happened for 4 hours till it started charging again but at a really slow pace. Now it takes an hour to charge to 5% I’ve tried troubleshooting the problem in many ways but nothing is happening. Could it possibly be the battery or port? Looking forward to the reply.

Solution: The best way to fix this problem is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try to check if the issue still occurs. If it does then try cleaning the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air then use a different charging cord and wall charger to charge the phone.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to have the phone checked at a service center.
