Solved Samsung Galaxy S8 Not Turning On After Drop
The #Samsung #Galaxy #S8 is a flagship phone released last year that offers a fresh design perspective when compared to its predecessors. The phone no longer has a physical home button making it able to accomodate a much larger 5.8 inch Super AMOLED display yet having a similar overall dimension as the S7. Although this is a solid performing phone there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S8 not turning on after drop issue and other related problems.
S8 Not Turning On After Drop
Problem: My Samsung Galaxy S8 cell phone was in my jacket pocket that I was holding in my arms. It somehow flew out of the pocket and just a few steps before me, up and onto the ground faced down. When I picked it up it was still on for a few seconds before it turned off completely. It was fully charge and when I tried charging it, the phone vibrates every few seconds continuously. There are no cracks on the screen or any damages seen on the device itself. Not sure what I should do or what the problem is now. Or if I need to get a new battery or if phone needs to be replaced. Already tried forcing the phone to turn on but to no avail.
Solution: It looks like the drop might have damaged some component inside the phone resulting in this issue. The best thing that you can do right now is to first charge the phone for 20 minutes by following the steps listed below.
- Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air.
- Charge the phone using its wall charger
- In case the phone does not charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also try charging the phone from a computer USB port.
Once the phone has some charge in it try turning it on by pressing and holding both the power and volume down buttons.
In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S8 Not Turning On
Problem: i have an S8. yesterday i place it on the charger (it was not, nor did it at any point get down to 0% or even close). maybe an hour later i go to take my phone off the charger, but it wont wake up. All that happens when i hit the power button is a red notification light blinks. i’ve tried different usb cables and chargers. i’ve tried booting into recovery. nothing has worked. i either get a single red blink or fast blinks. but phone wont turn on or charge. is it completely dead?
Solution: The red blinking LED light means that the phone is either low in battery or is connected to a charger but is not charging.
To fix this problem you should follow the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in this port.
- Charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using a wall charger.
- If the phone does not charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also try charging the phone from a computer USB port. In case you have a wireless charger then try using this to charge the phone.
Once the phone has successfully charged then try starting the phone by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds.
In case the issue persists then you need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S8 Will Not Fast Charge
Problem: My S8 won’t fast charge anymore. The phone is barely 7 or 8 months old, I’ve only ever used the proper charger and I take good care of my phones. My partner is having the same problem with his S8. He can sometimes get his to fast charge if he unplugs the charger a few times, but otherwise it’s a struggle
Solution: To fix this problem you will need to make sure that the charging port of the phone is free from any dirt or debris by cleaning it using a can of compressed air. Next, make sure that the fast charging setting of the phone is on. Go to Settings, search for and select Battery. Navigate to More Options > Advanced settings, and then touch the slider next to turn Fast cable charging. Charge the phone using its adaptive fast charger. If the problem still persists then try using a different charging cord and adaptive fast charger.
S8 Not Charging Not Turning On
Problem: So I’ve had my S8 for close to 7 months now and i didn’t really experience any problems, aside for overheating when I moved from South Africa to China, just assumed it was something different with the electricity. However during winter my phone wasnt able to hold charge and would die within an hr of charging it. so naturally one would think of replacing the battery and so i did. after replacing the battery things were fine for a couple weeks, then after that my phone would experience moments of glitch & reboot or glitch & stuck in boot loop or glitch & black screen/Solid LED light but these were fixed using the hardware button combinations, and for a while i wondered if it these glitches weren’t caused by recent OS updates which would seem like they were happening on a weekly basis to try and fix some “Bugs”. Eventually when these updates ended my phone was good for a couple days up until one day when it decided to the above mentioned, but the hardware combinations weren’t working at all this time and there was no LED light it had just gone dark completely. for about 18 hours it would be in this state, i would charge it occasionally throughout and nothing no LED no Charging signal whatsoever but i could feel when i touched that the device was somewhat warm and not at room temperature. So i left it charging and would occasionally try the button combination to no avail. Eventually I gave up and decided that the following morning I’m gonna take the device back to the repair guy who changed my battery because that was the onset of all these new problems. i decided to try and put the device into download mode one last time and bam it went into download mode and i could reboot my phone. fast forward a couple weeks from that day and i find myself in that very same situation and after over 24 hrs since its been off and i simply don’t know what to do. i figure it’s about time i got a new handheld anyway but i was hoping you guys could help give me some closure on what the issue was? was I hacked, was it a fatal hardware malfunction is it software related etc… Thanks in Advance
Solution: This looks like a hardware related problem already. What you can do right now is to clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air then charge the device for at least 20 minutes using a wall charger. Try turning on the phone by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. If the issue persists then you need to have this checked at a service center.
