S8+ Not Receiving Text Messages From Certain Contacts

Problem: Since last week, my Samsung Galaxy S8+ has not been receiving text messages from certain contacts on my phone. We are able to call each other and they are able to receive my text messages, but I am not able to receive their text messages. I have tried putting my phone on Safe Mode, using a third-party messenger app, and did a factory reset. I even took my phone to AT&T and they couldn’t figure out the problem. I am planning to take my phone to Samsung in Best Buy tomorrow for them to try to figure it out. What else can I do?

Solution: You can try isolating the SIM card by placing it in another phone then check if the same issue occurs. If it does then the issue might be account or SIM card related in which case this has to be brought up to AT&T. However, if the issue does not occur then the problem could be caused by your phone. Since you have already performed a factory reset and the issue still occurs then you need to have the phone checked at an authorized service center.

S8+ Text Messages Sent Arrives Late After Software Update

Problem: Since upgrading to Oreo on my Galaxy S8+ two days ago, many of my friends are receiving my text messages 12-24 hours later. There was not an issue before the update.

Solution: The first thing you need to do in this case is to make sure that your phone has a good signal reception from the network. Next, try clearing the cache and data of the text messaging app from the application manager then check if the issue still occurs. If it does and since this happened after a software update then the problem could be caused by old software data that has not been completely removed from the phone. I recommend that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset to fix this problem.

S8+ Not Sending Or Receiving MMS

Problem: Hello, I have had my Samsung S8+.  I also have an AT&T (this is the service I’ve had forever with my phone) microcell at home because I was never able to do anything on my phone at home (zip code 11357). Everything has been fine, but about a week ago I noticed that I wasn’t able to receive text messages that have pictures in them. I’ve always had a hard time sending them from there too, but it wasn’t as much of a concern to me. Now that I can’t get them either, I’m concerned what might be wrong. I have no issues with my phone when I’m at work (zip code 10001). I’ve done the soft boot and nothing.

Solution: If you are able to receive and send picture messages while at your work but not at your home then the problem is caused by a data connection issue in your home. Your phone might not be getting a good data signal in your home which is why this issue is happening. You need to contact AT&T regarding this matter as they might need to replace the microcell that you are using.

S8+ Receiving Duplicate Text Messages

Problem: I am experiencing two issues since my last update. First, I am receiving certain messages that I’ve already read over and over again, sometimes hours or even days later. Second, sometimes my messages within a group text randomly send separately to each individual in the group. Minor issues, but they are becoming annoying.

Solution: The first thing that you should do in this case is to clear the cache and data of the text messaging app from the application manager. Once this is done check if the issue still occurs. In case the problem persists then you should proceed with the steps listed below.

• Check if the issue occurs when the phone is started in Safe Mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
• Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
• Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If after the reset you are still receiving duplicate messages then you will have to contact your carrier regarding this matter as this could already be a network related problem.
