Solved Samsung Galaxy S8 Call Volume Is Low

The #Samsung #Galaxy #S8 is the first flagship phone of the South korean company that uses the Infinity Display. This is basically a 5.8 inch Super AMOLED display that occupies most of the front part of the phone since the design has very minimal bezels. This makes the phone great for viewing various multimedia content. Although this is a solid performing phone there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S8 call volume is low issue and other related problems.

S8 Call Volume Is Low

Problem: After an update done recently my incoming call volume is soooo low i can barely hear the caller. It sounds like the caller is far away. The call volume is at max already. I have to use the earphone to hear properly. My phone is not damage from a fall or anything.

Solution: If the call volume is already set to its maximum level you can still barely hear the call then you should check if this is caused by some software glitch. Sometimes after a software update some issues pop up mainly due to old software data that has not been completely removed. The best way to completely remove this old software data from your phone is by doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

In case the issue still occurs after the reset then there might be something wrong with the internal speaker of the phone. You will need to have this checked at a service center.

S8 Cannot Use Third Party Dialer App

Problem: Hello there. I own a Samsung Galaxy S8 and i have trouble in using a third party dialer (dialer one in particular including others). It seems i can’t get the dialer to work when receiving calls since the built-in dialer appears all the time. i even can’t make calls using dialer one (or any other).i tried to exclude the built in dialer from the settings menu and always give rights to the third party dialers with no results at all. Heeeelp me.Thanks in advance

Solution: The first thing that you need to do in this case is to set the default dialer app application on your phone.

  • Open the Settings app on your device
  • Now tap Apps
  • Next, tap three dots in the top-right corner to open the menu
  • Tap Default apps
  • You will see the apps set by default.
  • Change the Calling app to the third party app of your choice.

In case the same problem occurs then I recommend that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete download your preferred dialling app from the Google Play Store then set it as the default calling app in your phone.

S8 Screen Goes Black When Dialling

Problem: When I dial a number, the screen goes black and an automatic screen lock comes on.  An example; when I call voicemail and this problem occurs, often when I slide the screen to unlock it will cause the screen to go dark again or the slide lock will not stay open but closes again preventing me from entering my code to get my voicemails.  Also, when making regular phone calls, upon ending the call, I have to slide the screen several times before it will stay open.

Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to check if an app you installed is causing the problem. To do this you have to start the phone in Safe Mode. When the phone operates in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by a downloaded app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

In case the issue persists in Safe Mode then proceed with the additional steps listed below.

  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component. You will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked if this is the case.

S8 Call Improved After Installing Software Update

Problem: Thanks for featuring my issue regarding calls going silent and calls dropping. Samsung rolled out a software update  which read “Call stability has been improved”. The phone is working perfectly from the past 2 days after installing the update. For the first time in 50 days i am now able to make uninterrupted call. Sadly I’m quite disappointed with the way Samsung handled this. They never accepted that there was any issue from their end when it indeed was a software issue.

Solution: We are glad to hear that the update fixed your problem. In most cases phone manufacturers will release software updates to certain phone models to address specific concerns.
