J7 Went Black After Getting Wet

Problem: Hello. I accidentally splashed my phone with water. It dried and worked fine. I watched an episode on Netflix, sent some messages. About 2 hours later the phone vibrated and went black. It has been pulsing every 20 seconds all night but will not reboot. Please help.

Solution: It looks like the problem is caused by water that has entered the device. When this happens it will cause a short circuit in certain components and is usually called water damage. The best thing that you can do right now is to turn off the phone and remove the SIM card and microSD card ( if your phone has one installed). Place the phone in  bag of rice for at least 48 hours. Once this is done try starting the phone by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. In case the phone does not start then try charging it first for 20 minutes then attempt to turn on the phone again.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then it’s likely that some component inside the phone is water damaged. The best thing to do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

J7 Stuck On Battery Icon Not Charging

Problem: Hello. My J7 was working fine then I left it for 2 months in a drawer now when I plug the charger in it is just stuck on battery icon with lightning bolt but not actually charging I can boot it in download mode but when I try a hard reset (power volume up and home) a screen appears saying “installing update” for a second and then phone shuts down again.

Solution: If the phone has been inactive for at least 2 months then there’s a possibility that the battery has insufficient charge. The first thing that you will need to do in this case is to charge the phone by following the steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in the port.
  • Connect the phone to its wall charger then let it charge for at least 20 minutes.
  • In case the phone does not charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also check if the phone can charge from a computer USB port.

Once the battery has sufficient charge try turning on the phone by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. In case the phone does not turn on then try accessing the recovery mode then from here do a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then this could already be caused by a faulty hardware component in which case you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

J7 Stops Charging At 80%

Problem: My Samsung galaxy J7 e will not charge fast. It takes about 8 hours to reach 80% and once 80% is achieved, it stops charging. I know the charger I’m using may not be good enough so I changed the charger and it starts charging 1% per minute but as soon as it reaches 80% it stops.

Solution: For this particular issue you should try cleaning the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air then use a different charging cord and wall charger to charge the phone. You should also check if you are able to achieve a 100% charge when charging the phone from a computer USB port.

In case the issue persists then the next step is to check if the problem is caused by a software glitch by doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

J7 Freezes Then Restarts to A Black Screen

Problem: Hi Team!. I have had my Samsung Galaxy J7 for a year  now and it has recently been giving me problems. It will suddenly freeze and then restart and go into the whole black screen of death mode. I have managed to backup all my data, erase the cache partition and even reset the device to factory settings (all this done thanks to your great youtube videos!) But the problem still continues! Any ideas on how to fix it?

Solution: If you have already performed all of our recommended troubleshooting steps for this particular problem and the issue still persists then this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component already. The best thing you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
