A5 Unauthorized Factory Reset Error

Problem: My APN was reset by my son and then he did a hard reset of my phone. I have straight talked and I already called them they said to connect to WiFi , I tried several times but it keeps telling an unauthorized factory reset was done. They had me hard reset it 3 times and still nothing. I have no idea what to do please help

Solution: You will usually get this error message if the Google account connected to the phone has not been logged out before doing the factory reset. I’m assuming that you are not able to enter the Google account information right now since the display does not advance from the error message. What you should try to do in this case is to make sure that the phone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network before the reset was made.

If the issue still persists then you should contact Samsung regarding this matter as they have the correct tools to unlock the phone.

You might also want to consider flashing the phone with its stock firmware file using Odin as this will usually fix the problem. You can get the firmware file from the Sammobile website which also has the instructions on how to flash your phone.

A5 Randomly Freezes

Problem: I have a Samsung Galaxy A5 . The phone often freezes, and turns itself off and on several times. It fails to update, and sometimes comes up with ‘Downloading, do not turn off target’. And it stays that way until I have to take the battery out for a while and put it back in. Another reason I keep having to do a simulated battery pull because it often gets caught in a startup loop and doesn’t stop until I do so. The keypad randomly stops working or freezes. I swear I think it knows what I’m doing when I do to settings and manually try to update because it always shuts itself off shortly after I try anything. I’d had to reset the phone a few times, doing different types of resets, but that didn’t work. I had at some point managed to download something called Wake Lock, and for a while that seemed to work, and it’s only recently that it’s been up to its old tricks again. I’ve tried many things, but nothing seems to be working.

Solution:  If your phone has a microSD card then remove it first then check if the problem still occurs as sometimes a corrupt card can cause this problem. You should also consider doing a factory reset from the recovery mode to check if the problem is caused by a software glitch. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be caused by a faulty hardware component.

A5 Software Update Is Temporarily Unavailable

Problem: I have a Samsung Galaxy A5.  According to my phone, it states that I have the Android version 5.0.  My service provider is Ting, which runs on the t-mobile network.  When my husband bought the phone off of Devices, Inc, it said that is was an unlocked phone.   We think because of this small issue, my phone won’t update .  My email is through yahoo! and suddenly stopped working on yesterday.  The error message is “Cannot safely connect to server”.  I looked this up online and it states that I need to update my operating system.  When I go to my phone to do so, I get an error message if I try to update “Software update is temporarily unavailable. Try again later”.  I have tried some rooting software, but get error messages that I cannot use.  I NEED HELP!

Related Problem: I have a A5 I bought 2nd hand on ebay. It is currently running a 5.1.1. I have tried doing the marshmallow update on it over and over again. I am using an ATT a on a byop program through straight talk in mid missouri. I downloaded an app off of the play store called something like marshmallow update and it said my unit is incompatible with any updates. The update tab in my phone says it’s up to date . Is there anyway to upgrade as I can’t afford a new one and I already know it’s impossible to root this one.

Solution: Since this is an unlocked phone then the reason why it can’t get updates is because it is not running on its original carrier. You can try the following troubleshooting steps listed below to update your phone.

  • Connect your phone to a computer with Smart Switch installed and running. If the phone is detected by Smart Switch it will automatically tell you if a software update is available. Just follow the on screen instructions to update your device.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Check if you are able to update the phone after the reset.

If the above steps fails to work then you should consider flashing the updated firmware file to your phone. You can get the firmware file from the Sammobile website which should also have the instructions on how to flash your phone.
