There are however instances when charging the phone can become quite a challenge. This could be caused by different factors such as the battery, the charging cable, the charger, or the phone software.

S5 Won’t Charge
Problem: I bought a new battery today for my phone because my last battery got wet or had water damage. A triangle with a exclamation mark pops out when the phone is changing it’s a new battery and the phone works fine but it just wont charge. I’ve tried many chargers and it wont charge. Please help me
Solution: Did the battery get wet while it was inside your phone? If this is the case then water may have also entered your phone and affected the charging circuit.
To troubleshoot this issue try to check the charging port of your phone for any signs of dirt or debris. Clean it if necessary using a can of compressed air or cotton bud dipped in alcohol. Since you mentioned that you tried using different chargers have you also tried using different charging cords? This cord usually gets damaged easily and replacing this with a new one may resolve the problem.
Sometimes this issue can also be caused by a glitch in the phone software. To check if this is the case you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
If the issue still persists then this may already be a hardware related problem. I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
S5 Loses Charge Quickly
Problem: Hi. My phone has been losing charge very quickly recently. Overnight it only charged to 94% and started to lose power even when plugged in. I have followed most of your advice and have found that if I boot in safe mode the phone will gain charge while I use it. What should my next step be to cure the problem outside of safe mode? Thank you in advance
Solution: If the issue disappears while in Safe mode then it’s possible that a third party app you installed in your phone is causing the problem. You could find out what app this is and uninstall it using a trial and error method. The quickest way however to resolve this problem is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
S5 Battery Drains Fast
Problem: Battery draining very fast. Can’t last 1 day. Checked online and nothing works. I see a lot of people complaining. Wondering if this issue is going to get fixed!! That’s what it means when a lot of people complain! THIS IS AN ISSUE!!!!! PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!!!!!!!!!!
Solution: One factor that could cause this issue is the apps installed in your phone. Try to check if there are any new updates available for your phone apps. Open the Google Play Store then open the My Apps section. You will then see which apps have new updates available. Install these updates.
If your phone apps are already updated or if the problem persists you should then wipe the cache partition of your phone then start your device in Safe Mode. In this mode only the default apps are loaded while the apps you downloaded are disabled. Try to use your phone this way for at least a day. Does the battery life improve? If it does then the problem may be caused by an app installed in your phone. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
If at this point the problem still persists then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
You should also consider getting a new battery if the factory reset fails to fix the problem as the battery that your phone is using may already be too weak.
S5 Does Not Charge
Problem: Charging blocked, phone not charging message to use original charger, which I am. Tried multiple chargers, same message
Solution: Try checking your phone charging port if there are any signs of dirt or debris. These particles usually interferes with the charging process. Clean it if necessary using a can of compressed air or a cotton bud dipped in alcohol.
Next, check the charging cord you are using for any signs of damage. It’s best if you replace this cord with a new one since the damage may be due to some cut wire which is not visible to the eye. This usually happens if the cord is constantly bent or coiled.
Sometimes a glitch in the phone software can also cause this type of issue. To check if this is the case I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
S5 Charger Port Damaged
Problem: I have tried many different chargers, I’m thinking that the reason my phone won’t charge is because the charger port is damaged..how much would this be to get fixed? Or is there anyway I could fix it myself
Solution: I’m assuming that you have already cleaned the charging port of our phone and have also tried using different charging cords. If you think that the charging port is causing the problem then you must have this replaced. Replacing this port requires some special tools to open the phone. The charging port assembly itself costs around $10. You can view some of the YouTube videos on how to replace the S5 charger port if you want to do this procedure yourself. If you are not comfortable doing this procedure then I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have the port professionally changed.
S5 Does Not Charge
Problem: Overheated and bought a new battery. Came at 12%. Phone boots but when I plug it in to charge it, lightening bolt never appears. Shut the phone down and plug it in to charge it. The battery with the lightning bolt appears on the screen and it does the quick vibrate, but with no percentage, then disappears/phone shuts off. This happens repeatedly and battery never charges.
- Cleaned the ports
- Factory reset
- Tried a different cable
- Tried booting in safe mode, still won’t charge
- Left the phone for an hour, it just did the same thing… battery appears, disappears the whole time, never charges.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Solution: Have you tried using a different wall charger? If you have then it appears you have already performed all of the necessary troubleshooting steps needed to be done for this type of issue.
The problem may already be hardware related. I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
