HTC U11 Screen Randomly Goes Black

Problem: Hi, I have an HTC U11, it frequently goes black and I am unable to do anything for a few minutes and then it will work again.  I have seen solutions for black screen but it does not say if this will work if it keeps happening and then working again at random.  It also says process system isn’t responding occasionally. If I do a forced reboot it works again for a while and then the same problem again, but as I said it seems to rectify after a few minutes and then a little while later will do the same again. Thanks

Solution: If this issue occurs randomly then there’s a chance that this could be caused by a software glitch. Follow the troubleshooting steps listed below to fix this problem.

Start the phone in Safe mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode.

  • Turn off the phone then  press and hold the “Power” button for a couple of seconds to turn the device back on.
  • When you see the HTC logo appears on the screen, press and hold the “Volume Down” button.
  • Continue holding the “Volume Down” button until the Android OS is completely loaded. You should be able to verify that you are in Safe Mode if you see the words “Safe Mode” in the lower-left corner of the screen.

If the problem does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

In case the issue still occurs even in Safe Mode then you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try to check first if the problem still occurs. If it does then this could already be caused by a faulty hardware component in which case you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

HTC U11 With Broken Screen Displays Multiple Colors

Problem: My phone has a broken screen but that never became a problem and while I was waking today the phone was in my pocket and I pulled out the screen was multi coloured with no display.. I pressed the power button and the lower button the phone resumed but ten seconds later when I tried to open any app it became the same multiple coloured again.. I have put it on charging for now but it isn’t backed up at all and it has a lot of information how can I get it to work or atlas they my data !!

Solution: To backup your phone data you can try connecting the phone to a computer with HTC Sync Manager installed. You will be able to import music, photos, and videos from your phone to your computer. You can also sync locally stored contacts and playlists between your phone and your computer.

Once a backup has been made I suggest you perform a factory reset. This will allow you to check if the problem is caused by a software glitch.

In case the problem still occurs after the reset then you will need to have the display assembly of the phone replaced at a service center.

HTC U11 Black Screen After Drop

Problem: I dropped my HTC U11 today and it has starting showing up with a black screen with lots of different coloured speckles and a black background. It already had a cracked screen and I am not sure what to do. Just wondering what is going on with my phone and how to fix it?

Solution: Unfortunately since the phone already has a cracked screen then the best thing to do right now is to have the display assembly replaced at a service center.

HTC U11 Black Screen But Phone Still Works

Problem: I have an HTC U11 and one minute it was working and I put it down for a second and when i went back to pick it up my screen was black. My buttons still lights up and it still vibrates or rings, and seems to be working as normal, I just can not see anything. I tried holding down my power, volume down, and home button and that caused it to come back on but it started flickering and soon went back off. Now when i try that same method I get a green yellowish screen with vertical lines and it stays that way unless I press a button and it goes back to a black screen.

Related Problem: I have an HTC U11 and I dropped it on the floor this morning. The screen is now black except for a few pixelated lines. It seems to respond when I push the side button as the pixelated lines light up and the lights on the bottom of the phone light up. The phone also chimed in when I had a reminder this morning. I am wondering if I need a new phone or just need to replace the screen. Thanks for your help.

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to start the phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset. Take note  that this will erase your phone data. If the issue still persists then you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as the phone might need to have its display replaced.
