S7 Not Receiving Text Message From One Contact

Problem: My android phone is not receiving texts from one number, this person also has an android phone. I have the galaxy s7, I am able to receive text messages from other people in my contacts just not this one specific number. The number is not blocked in my phone, I have tried force stopping my contact as well as my messages app. I have also deleted the contact and saved it in my phone as I have read to do so online. None of these attempts alleviated the issue and I need to receive these messages!

Solution: The first thing that you need to do in this particular case is to confirm with the other person that the text message has been successfully sent on the phone he or she is using. Once this is confirmed and the message does not appear on your end then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Double check that the number is not included in the block or spam list. From any Home screen, tap Messages then tap on the menu or more icon. Tap Settings then tap on Block Messages. Tap Block list or Block number then tap on the minus sign on the number that you want to unblock.
  • If the number is not in the block list then try clearing the cache and data of the messages app from the application manager.
  • Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the message is received in this mode. If it does then the problem could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S7 Text Message Not Appearing When Messages Is Opened

Problem: I can see text messages in the preview, but when I open the actual convo it isn’t there. My phone was randomly a day ahead with the date, and this started happening when I set the phone to the correct date

Solution: Make sure the time and date of the phone is correct and that it is set to acquire this information automatically from the network you can do this by following the steps listed below.

  • From a Home screen, tap Apps
  • Tap Settings.
  • Tap Date and time.
  • Tap the Automatic date and time switch to enable it.

Restart your phone after this then clear the cache and data of the text messaging app form the application manager. Check if the issue still occurs. If it does then I would recommend that you do a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

S7 Moisture Detected In Charging Port

Problem: Two days ago I got the message moisture detected in the charging port on my s7 active. The battery is completely dead now I put the phone in a bag of rice overnight and get no response when I connect the charger. I looked in the sim card slot and the little tag is white with like 2 red x on it. I’ve tried the reboot where you hold the volume and home buttons then the power button but still the phone doesn’t respond. Is this because the battery is dead? What else can I try?

Solution: The red x mark on the sticker of the phone means that the device has suffered from water damage. A component inside the phone might have come into contact with water and shorted. The best thing that you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S7 Restarts When There Is Incoming Call

Problem: Galaxy S7  Phone restarts on incoming calls. This started in the last couple of days.  I have been using the phone for almost 2 months (bought new and unlocked from Samsung). I can make outgoing calls.  All apps work ok. #1 – I rebooted in safe mode – still restarts on incoming calls. #2 – I removed my SD card – still restarts.  I’d appreciate any suggestions!  Note that my SIM card was trimmed from a Micro to a Nano.

Solution: Try checking if the issue occurs when the phone is connected to its wall charger. If the problem does not occur then it’s very likely that the battery is causing this issue as it can’t supply the necessary power when a call is received. You will need to bring the phone to a service center if this is the case. If however the issue occurs even with the charger connected then proceed with the steps listed below.

  • Try using a different SIM card in your phone.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S7 Camera Not Working After Software Update

Problem: Camera, gallery and Instagram photos not working after January 25 2018 update. I have tried rebooting, Force stopping and clearing the cache. I’ve spoken with Verizon who says other people I’ve had the same problem and even I factory reset did not fix the problem.

Solution: If a factory reset does not fix the problem then you should consider flashing the previous firmware update to your phone using Odin. you can download the firmware file from the Sammobile website which is also where you can find the instructions on how to flash your phone. In case the issue persists then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S7 Not Charging Not Turning On

Problem: Phone won’t charge and won’t turn on. I had it plugged in this morning at 5% battery life. Came back later in the afternoon and it never turned back on, i only get a blinking line across the screen but it won’t turn on.

Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this particular case is to clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in this port is removed. Once this is done charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using a wall charger. If the phone does not charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also check if the phone can charge from a computer USB port. Remove the microSD card of the phone if one is installed then try turning on the device by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons.

If the issue persists then you will need to bring this to a service center and have it checked.

S7 Hotspot Not Working On Straight Talk

Problem: Hi,I used to be with verizon ,just switched to straight talk ,now my mobile hotspot won’t work anymore ,it says (checking subscription) mobile number not found .it’s a verizon phone but unlocked .everything else works good ,can you please tell me how to fix this ? Thanks

Solution: You will be able to use the mobile hotspot feature of the phone if you are subscribed to the Straight Talk Data Service plan. Make sure that you are subscribed to this plan on order to use the hotspot of your phone.

One Comment

  1. i would like to remove the time, date and weather from my home screen, as they take up half the front screen. Also I cannot make the apps smaller. Holding a space on the screen does not do anything like it did on my s6. Very frustrating.
