S7 Edge Will Not Charge After Getting Wet

Problem: On November 22nd 2017 my phone fell in the pool. I turned it off immediately pulled out the SD card and let it sit under a fan for 4 full days. Today December 16th 2017 my phone will not charge. I purchased a new charger and it will stay on with your trick of the volume down button and power button. However it will not go above 0% charging and only works if I leave it plugged in. Could water damage take that long to effect the charging ability? After the fourth day I had no problems whatsoever with the phone until today. Thank you

Solution: It looks like the water might have affected the charging ability of the phone. What you should do in this case is to make sure that the internal part of the phone is completely dry. To do this you will need to place the phone in a bag of rice for at least 48 hours. Once this is done proceed with the steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in the port is removed.
  • Charge the phone using its wall charger.
  • If the phone refuses to charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also try charging the phone from a computer USB port.

If the issue persists then you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as the phone might already be water damaged.

Then after that when I go to send a regular message it says message failed but then it actually goes through.  I can send photos just fine and they go right through.  I’m not sure whats going on with it but it’s driving me crazy.  I use Straight Talk and have been on the phone with them and they say that everything is right in the system and it’s a Samsung problem.. Can you help me.. Thanks.. also I have factory reset the phone and it has not done anything

Solution: If you have already performed a factory reset and the issue still remains then this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component already. The best thing that you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S7 Edge Not Charging Due To Moisture Warning

Problem: I have an S7 Edge. About a year old. I picked up the dreaded moisture warning last night. To make matters a billion fucking trillion times worse, my battery died. It was almost dead already when the warning popped up (iirc it was at 6%) and I had barely even begun the troubleshooting process when it completely ran out of juice. So 18 hours later my phone is still dead and I can’t charge the battery, still, seemingly because of the moisture warning. I was thinking about taking it into an AT&T store but I future that’s likely to end with me getting locked into a new phone when I probably didn’t need one. So instead, I come to you fine folks for legitimate help. What should I do? Plug it in, wait and pray? Not plug it in, wait and pray? Take my ol’ lady’s hair dryer to the USB port? Or, blast from the past, bury it in a bag rice? Please advise. Please help me. I implore you. No, I beg you! I’ll even consider naming my next kid after you. Well more than likely the next gerbil we get. But still… SAME DIFFERENCE! Be the hero my world so desperately needs.

Solution: If you are getting a moisture error warning then there’s a possibility that the charging port of the phone has moisture present. You can use a vacuum or a hair dryer to make sure that the charging port is free from moisture. Once this is done try charging the phone for at least 20 minutes using a different charging cord and wall charger. Turn on your phone by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds.

If you are not getting any response from your phone then you will need to bring this to a service center and have it checked.
