S7 Cannot Access Emails

Problem: HI i cannot access my Yahoo emails on my Samsung 7 when at work in Papua New Guinea using a Digicel SIM  card. I travel extensively overseas and do not have a problem in any other country except in Papua New Guinea on Digicel. I have the the PNG new number authenticated and registered as second number as i thought this may have been a problem trying to access my email on a different number but this does not fix the issue.  When i use the Yahoo Email app it just sits there searching for emails and trying to retrieve but never updates. I have to log onto Yahoo mail through Google on the phone to check my emails or alternatively go onto the Web on my work PC to check emails both of which are frustrating as i just want to know why it does not work. Any ideas??

Solution: I’m assuming that the problem only occurs when you are using the Digicel mobile data network and not when your phone is connected to a Wi-Fi network. If this is the case then you should ty checking the incoming and outgoing SMTP server setting of your email app.

Incoming Server

  • Port 110
  • Security Type: None

Outgoing Server

  • Port 25
  • Security Type: None

If the issue still persists even if your phone has the correct settings then I recommend that you contact Digicel regarding this matter.

S7 Not Receiving Gmail

Problem: Gmail not receiving emails 4 days ago sprint states that issue is from Google or samsung

Solution: The first thing that you should check in this particular case is if your phone is connected to the Internet. Try opening a website from your phone browser. If the Internet is working but you still can’t access your gmail then do the following steps listed.

  • Access your Gmail email from the phone browser. This allows you to check if your email is working. If you can’t access your email from the browser then this is an account related issue already.
  • If you are able to access your email from the browser then the next step is to check the Gmail app which I assume that you are using. Try clearing the cache and data of this app from the application manager. Once this is done check if the issue still occurs.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. Does the problem occur in this mode? If it doesn’t then it is most likely caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S7 Can’t Connect To Email Unless Connected To Wi-Fi

Problem: I used to be able to receive emails at the same time while I’m on the phone. However, I think I did something in my settings to save battery life. Now it says, in order to receive email or social media I should connect to Wi-fi.

Solution: You might have activated the power saving mode feature of your phone. Try turning this off then check if the problem still occurs.

  • From the Home screen, touch Apps
  • Touch Settings
  • Scroll to and touch Battery
  • Touch Power saving mode.
  • Touch the slider  to turn Power saving mode off

S7 Hotmail Email Fails To Send

Problem: Set up email account using gmail. I use this in the ’email’ app pre installed onto the phone. Added another email address which was hotmail. I am receiving emails and notifications from both accounts fine, but when I try to reply to the hotmail emails it fails to send. Something about a problem with the server…?

Solution: It’s possible that this issue is a setting related problem. Try setting up the account again by following the steps listed in this guide https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Set-up-email-in-Android-email-app-71147974-7aca-491b-978a-ab15e360434c?ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US&fromAR=1#ID0EAACAAA=Gmail_app.

S7 Keeps Notifying On Old Emails

Problem: Notifications from the email app on my Samsung 7 keep popping up with old emails from weeks or even months ago. When i click on out, it just opens up the regular email app, with the new emails. Why is it doubt this? How do i get it to only notify me of new emails? I have a screenshot I can send you, if needed.

Solution: It’s possible that the problem is caused by a glitch in the email app that you are using. Try clearing the cache and data of this app from the application manager. Once this is done you will need to setup your email again. After setting up your email check if the issue still occurs. If it does then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue still occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S7 Can’t Send Emails Unless Connected to Home Wi-Fi

Problem: On galaxy s7, I can’t send emails unless I am connected to my home WiFi. I get an error message that says email can’t be authenticated. Never had this problem with any other phone using the same email and Wi-Fi.

Solution: To fix this problem you will need to check the incoming and outgoing server settings of the email app and make sure that the settings are compatible with your mobile data connection.

S7 Appointment Invites Not Being Sent

Problem: Hi I Have a new Samsung galaxy s7. My native calendar had synced ok and I have my email accounts set up fine using the native email app. The problem I have is that when I create a new appointment (assigned to my Hotmail account) and add participants, the appointment saves and it tells me the invitation has been sent to the participants. But the email fails to send and if it eventually appears in the outbox it appears to have no recipients. When opening the email you can see that there ARE recipients. The send button in the outbox is enabled but doesn’t work on these particular emails. Carrier is Vodafone.

Solution: You need to check if the problem occurs when your phone is connected to a mobile data network and a Wi-Fi network. Basically, what you need to do first is to check if the connection is causing this problem.

Once you have made sure that the connection is not causing the problem then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below. Perform each step then check if the issue still occurs after performing a step. Move to the next step if the issue still occurs.

  • Restart the phone.
  • Try setting up another email account ( preferably Gmail) then check if the issue still occurs. If it doesn’t then the problem could be with the Hotmail account that you are using. Double check the settings of your Hotmail account.
  • Check if the issue occurs in Safe Mode. If it doesn’t then the problem could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Backup your phone data and do a factory reset.
