How to get rid of “Gallery has stopped” error on Galaxy S10e

The Gallery is a pre-installed app so there’s always a chance that the problem is with the firmware. However, we need to be thorough in our troubleshooting. Here’s what you should do:

First solution: Close apps running in the background and force restart your phone

Gallery is used by many applications including third-party apps and it’s always possible that one of them is causing it to crash. Therefore, the first thing you have to do is close all applications that are running in the background.

  1. Go back to the Home screen.
  2. Tap the Recent key.
  3. Tap Close all to quit all apps running in the background.

After doing this, you have to force restart your phone so that the memory will be refreshed and all its apps and services reloaded. Here’s how you do it:

  1. Press and hold the volume down button and don’t release it yet.
  2. While holding down the volume button, press and hold the power key as well.
  3. Keep both keys held down together for 15 seconds or until the S10e logo shows on the screen.

If the Gallery has stopped error still shows up when you open the app after doing these procedures, then move on to the next solution.

  6. Touch Clear cache.

After doing this, try to see if the gallery has stopped error still pops up because if it does, then it’s time to troubleshoot the firmware.

Third solution: Wipe cache partition to fix Gallery has stopped error

This is going to delete the system cache and replace it with a new one. It’s very important to do this procedure because it happens so often that the cache gets corrupted and will result to performance issues including app crashes. Don’t worry, none of your pictures or files will be deleted if you did this. Here’s how it’s done…

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
  3. When the Galaxy S10e logo shows, release all three keys.
  4. Your phone will continue to boot into the recovery mode and once it reaches the black screen with blue and yellow texts, you’re ready to proceed to the next step.
  5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition.
  6. Press Power key to select.
  7. Press the Volume down key to highlight yes, them and press the Power key to select.
