Note 5 Photos Are Blurry

Problem: Samsung Galaxy Note 5 I think I have a possible virus. My camera used to take super wonderful photos. Then suddenly my photos are blurry. When I take a photo the preview looks awesome, then open in gallery and they are very poor quality, this has been happening for about a week. Yesterday when I open the gallery some of my photos no longer load, the album is there but you can not see the photos just blank squares. I downloaded an app and had to delete it a day later due to a ton of pop up adds. since then I have experienced one teladoc add that refuses to go away, it locks the screen for a few seconds then resumes. I am thinking this has brought a virus which is causing all these issues. I looked for the cache button but there is not one on this phone under the camera or anything else, very strange. I have a 32 G and have only used 300KB so I am not overloaded. Need help to get my phone back to normal. I purchased my phone 3 yr ago. Android Version says only 7.0 none of the below options.

Solution: To fix this problem the first thing that you need to do is to make sure that the rear camera lens is free from any smudges or dirt by cleaning it using a microfiber cloth. Once this is done go to the application manager and look for the camera app. You need to clear the cache and data of the camera. As soons as this is done check if the issue still occurs. If it does then proceed with the following steps listed below.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by a downloaded app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Note 5 Stuck In Download Mode

Problem: Verizon Galaxy Note 5 will only boot in download mode or with a screen that states “Software Update Failed”.  It will not power off.  It displays one of the above screens until the battery dies.  I have tried everything below to fix it.  Nothing works.

1 – Tried Verison Software Upgrade Assistant.  It said it could not upgrade the phone.

2 – Tried Odin with every firmware file imaginable.  They all seem to give the same error, “Complete(Write) operation failed.”  This occurs on the recovery.img file.  Here is the log file

3 – Tried Smart Switch and it stated it could not repair the device. I am ready to drive over this phone.  Is there any hope for complete restoring any kind of an operational firmware on it? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Solution: Try checking if you are able to boot the phone in recovery mode. From here you will need to wipe the cache partition of the phone then do a factory reset. In case this fails to fix the problem then this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component already. You will need to bring this to a service center and have it checked.

Note 5 SIM Card Not Found Error

Problem: I have SIM card issues. A few months after I got the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 in June 2017, 1-3 times a day my phone will say “SIM card not found”. Sometimes, it will automatically read my SIM again and force me to restart. Other times, I have to physically pop open the SIM slot, do a bit of jiggling and then it’ll read. This has gotten in the way of normal functioning use of my phone and I’m super frustrated. I have factory reset my phone several times and I have replaced the SIM once. I have a manufacturer’s warranty but they want me to ship my phone to them for them to repair it and return it which will take at least a week – I need my phone daily for work. I have other insurance but they will not help as it is still covered under the manufacturer’s warranty.

Solution: Since you have already tried using a different SIM card and even performed a factory reset which does not fix the problem then this issue is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component. The best thing you can do right now is to have this checked at a service center.

Note 5 Does Not Boot After Getting Wet

Problem: Recently I dropped my phone into some rather deep water and thought the phone done for. Soon after however I got a response and the screen looks fine, all lights are working, but it refuses to go past boot screen and doesn’t seem to respond to any of the master reboot button combinations with the exception of the volume down, power to force it to power off. Anything else is seemingly random as i’ve gotten to the cache screen and did a factory reset once but not with the instructions given, and haven’t been able to replicate it. At one point it also seemingly attempted to download an operating system. Any help would be greatly appreciated though I think i’m safe in assuming I just need a replacement at this point.

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to place the phone in a bag of rice for at least 48 hours. The rice will absorb any moisture present inside the phone. Once this is done check if the phone can turn on. If it doesn’t then it is most likely water damaged. The best thing to do in this scenario is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 5 Battery Drains Quickly

Problem: Hello Droid Guy, have a Galaxy Note 5. When my phone is on, I charge to 100% and I notice my battery drains extremely quickly. About a week ago, I turned off my phone and noticed that it shows my battery percentage at 84%. Once I leave it to charge to 100% turned off, my battery life will work great, but I need to consistently turn off my phone, charge it, then turn on and use it. Any tips to get my battery life back to normal?

Solution: What you will want to do in this case is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone. Try checking first if the issue still occurs. If it does then your phone most probably needs to have the battery replaced.

Note 5 No Network

Problem: I got a note 5 from a person on cl selling it. It was registered on the tmobile network. I want to use straight talk so I called straight talk to see if the phone was able to switch to straight talk I was told yes via imei# and went n bought a byob I followed straight talk instructions added a plan to sim. Straight talk says sim is active with the plan but I can’t get a network n I was told now there was a billing issue with prior owner so now I have a phone new sim n a plan attached straight talk can see it but t mobile has it locked. How do I get tmobile off here and activate my straight talk service and get bars so I can make calls.

Solution: The phone is most likely still locked to the T-Mobile network. In order for this to run on the Straight Talk network you will need to have the phone unlocked.  This can be done for free by T-Mobile however since it has a billing issue then you should consider having the phone unlocked by a third party service provider.
