J7 Screen Went Black

Problem: Hi, My Samsung galaxy screen went black all of a sudden at work today, the screens a bit cracked and damaged but I was using it a few minutes earlier. It flashes something down the left side about a cm thick of what appears to be an image. Every time it flashes it also vibrates. It also makes weird static sounds every few minutes for a split jump-scare and it won’t turn off at all. Should I just smash it with a hammer and get a new phone? Also don’t know what android system, can’t check.

Related Problem: Hi, I have a Samsung J7 with the black screen that doesn’t light up. It charges, turns on and the home keys & charging light lights up etc but I can’t see anything on the screen. Can you help me at all? Many thanks.

Related Problem: Hi, My Galaxy J7 was dropped about a month ago. Now the screen is black and the lights on the return and window button on the bottom won’t come on. Is there an easy fix for this? Any help would be great.

Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this particular case is to restart the phone as sometimes this usually fixes the problem especially if it is caused by a software glitch. If the screen is still black after the restart then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Remove the microSD card of the phone.
  • Start the phone in recovery mode. If the screen works in this mode then I suggest that you do a factory reset in here. Take note that this will erase your phone data.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then this is most likely caused by a faulty display assembly already and might need to be replaced with a new one. The best thing to do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

J7 Screen Flickers Different Colors Is Unresponsive

Problem: Last week my screen starting doing weird things on my Samsung J7. It started with static lines that were purple/pink in color and they would flicker on and off of the screen in different locations. Within 2 hours, the entire screen turned staticy pink and purple and the phone screen was no longer responsive to touch at all. The screen them started flashing on and off with the same staticy look and the phone would vibrate when it flashed. Brought it to Verizon and they couldn’t do anything with it. They replaced it with the warranty. Problem is, all of my photos for the last 5 or 6 years are on the phone (they were supposed to back up to the cloud, but aren’t there) and I need them before I turn the phone in to Verizon. The phone will charge, but is not recognized by the computer. Also, it has a pin code lock and I can’t unlock it because the screen is unresponsive . Help!

Solution: While this looks like a hardware related problem already most likely caused by a damaged display you can do the troubleshooting steps below to recover your phone data.

  • Remove the microSD card of the phone.
  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. If the screen works in this mode then you should proceed with recovering your phone data.
  • Start the phone in recovery mode then wipe the cache partition of the phone. Restart the phone then check if you are able to recover your phone data.

If the above steps fails to work then in order to recover your phone data you will first need to have the display of the phone replaced.

J7 Screen Is Blinking with Grey Horizontal Lines

Problem: i was using my mobile samsung J7 then suddenly screen is blinking then all of a sudden there are horizontal grey lines on the screen.i already tried all the recommendations i have read from website but still not working.

Solution:  If your phone has a microSD card installed then I suggest that you remove it before doing the troubleshooting steps listed below.

The first thing you need to do in this case is to perform a simulated battery pull which is done by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. If the issue still occurs after this then try starting the phone in recovery mode then from here perform a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will have to bring this to a service center and have it checked as this could already be caused by a faulty display.
