Samsung Galaxy A10 Reset Guide: Different types of reset you can do

When your phone has an issue and you don’t know what caused it or what to do to fix it, your best bet is a reset. In the case of the Samsung Galaxy A10, an entry-level device, you may have to reset it more frequently, especially if you’ve already installed a lot of apps on it. It’s because unlike the flagship phones, it only has 2GB of RAM which can run out fast when you have several apps running in the background. 

The Galaxy A10 is a really good phone and could easily defeat all other devices in its category but issues may occur from time to time, which may prompt you to reset it. How to perform a Soft Reset or Forced Restart on Galaxy A10

A soft reset or forced restart, while it’s a very simple procedure, can be very useful if your phone is stuck on a black screen or any screen for that matter, and would no longer respond. It is a simulated battery removal that will refresh your device’s memory as well as reload all its apps and services. It is called a ‘reset’ but you won’t lose any files or data if you did this. Here’s how it’s done: 

1. Press and hold the Volume Down button and don’t release it yet. 
2. While holding down the volume button, press and hold the Power key as well. 
3. Keep both keys held down together for 15 seconds or until the Galaxy A10 logo shows on the screen.

When it comes to issues like the Black Screen of Death, wherein your phone is stuck on a black screen (hence the name) and would no longer respond, this procedure has already been proven to be very effective.

How to Reset All Settings on Galaxy A10

You will need to do this procedure if some settings on your device have been changed and caused it to not work properly. Most of the time, we don’t know where to look or what setting to change to make the device work again. That’s the reason why this reset exists so that you can bring the phone back to its default configuration without deleting your files and data. This is how it’s done on your Galaxy A10: 

1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down. 
2. Tap the Settings icon on the upper-right corner. 
3. Scroll to and tap General management. 
4. Touch Reset. 
5. Tap Reset settings. 
6. Tap the Reset settings button. 
7. If prompted, enter your PIN, Password or Pattern. 
8. Finally, tap Reset.

After doing this, you will have to configure your phone so that it will work the way you want it to work. 

How to Reset Network Settings on your Galaxy A10

This type of reset can be very helpful if your Galaxy A10 has some issues connecting to the Internet or any network problem for that matter. In so doing, you will delete all network connections in your device, bring all network settings back to the factory defaults and then delete all the caches used by network services. It has also been proven effective against network-related problems and here’s how it’s done: 

1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down. 
2. Tap the Settings icon on the upper-right corner. 
3. Scroll to and tap General management. 
4. Touch Reset. 
5. Tap Reset network settings. 
6. Tap Reset settings. 
7. If prompted, enter your PIN, Password or Pattern. 
8. Finally, tap Reset.

After doing this, only the mobile data is enabled so if you want to reconnect to a WiFi network, you have to enable it again. But most of the time, this procedure will fix most of network-related issues.

How to Factory Reset your Galaxy A10

This is the most commonly used type of reset. This will bring the phone back to its default settings as well as wipe off the internal storage of your personal files and data. In other words, you will have a phone with an out-of-the-box configuration. Prior to doing this, it’s best that you create a copy or backup of your important files and data as you may not be able to retrieve them after the reset. Here’s how it’s done: 

1. Swipe down from the top of the screen and then tap the Settings icon.
2. Scroll to and tap General management. 
3. Touch Reset. 
4. Tap Factory data reset. 
5. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and tap Reset. 
6. If prompted, enter your PIN, Password or Pattern. 
7. Finally, tap Delete all.

After doing this, you will have to set up your phone as a new device or you can choose to retrieve your old files and data using the Google account you used prior to the reset, that is if you created a backup.

How to Master Reset your Galaxy A10

A master reset is basically a factory reset but it’s performed differently. With this kind of reset, you don’t need your phone to boot up normally as you only need the device to run in recovery mode to be able to perform it. But just like the factory reset, you will lose all your files and data that are stored in your phone’s internal storage. So, if possible, create a backup of those files before doing this. Here’s how it’s done: 

1. Turn off the device.
2. Press and hold the Volume Up and Power keys.
3. When the Galaxy A10 logo shows, release all three keys.
4. Your Galaxy A10 will continue to boot up into the Recovery Mode. Once you see a black screen with blue and yellow texts, proceed to the next step. 
5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset’.
6. Press Power button to select.
7. Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes’ is highlighted.
8. Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
9. When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
10. Press the Power key to restart the device.

After this, you will need to set up your phone as a new device or restore your data using the Google account you’ve used prior to the reset. Also, if you haven’t removed your Google account prior to the reset, you will need to use that account to set your device up.
