Removing Samsung Knox Notifications

Samsung Knox aims to make up for the Android operating system’s security vulnerabilities. The new feature is supposedly Android’s response to the high-end security features of iOS and BlackBerry devices.

Then, after the 4.3 update, Knox got integrated to the App Tray. Selecting this will automatically install the app and upgrade your security settings. However, along with it are constant notification messages.

Some users shared to us through Mailbag that Samsung Knox notifications just keep popping up every 5 to 10 minutes which can be quite annoying. Or should I say “ob-Knox-ious”?

After reading the manual of the app (link provided in the Sources section below), I found out that there’s an option to uninstall it. However, this can be very misleading since all it does is to disable the app and the app remains in your phone’s system nevertheless.

So, after researching some more about the issue, I encountered some solutions from DV. Note that these will only work in rooted devices.

Solution #1 – Using Android Terminal Emulator

  1. Go to Google Play.
  2. Download and install the Android Terminal Emulator.
  3. Open the app and grant it root access.
  4. Enter these in the command box (without the quotes): “su pm disable com.sec.knox.seandroid”

Solution #2 – Using Titanium Backup

  1. Get the app from Google Play.
  2. Run the app and disable the following files associated with Samsung Knox:
  • com.sec.enterprise.knox.attestation
  • com.sec.knox.eventsmanager
  • KLMS Agent
  • KNOX
  • Knox Notification Manager
  • KNOX Store

Solution #3 – Using Disablers

If you are only looking to disable the Samsung Knox Notifications without removing the whole app, you can use app blockers available in Google Play like Knox Disabler.

  1. Hi, I have just purchased a Erinson Car android head unit with android 4.4.2. My S3 connects OK and I have uploaded the contacts OK and can play music from the phone through the car speakers, but… On receiving a call the head unit opens and accepts the call but I cannot hear the caller and the caller cannot hear me. The same thing happens when I dial out, everything works ok but no sound. Anyone know what to do please?

  2. Check the page 13 of Samsung Knox Manual to disable it. But like I said, it only disables it. Let’s just cross our fingers for a fix in the next update.

  3. And what about those of us with unrooted devices? I have a new Note 3 and this has started to happen occasionally. Currently I am clearing cache and data, but it still comes back. Samsung appears to remain quiet on the whole issue. Isn’t it about time, based on the sheer volume of complaints, that they issue a statement, and more importantly push out a fix?
