Nova Launcher keeps crashing on Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus (easy steps)

I personally use Nova Launcher on every Android phone I have and I can attest that this app or launcher is pretty stable not to mention offers features you can never find in other launchers. But no matter how stable an app is, there would always be users who may encounter a couple of issues with it every now and then and that’s the case with some of our readers that own the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus. Majority of the reports we received said that the Nova Launcher keeps on crashing and since it’s takes charge of the phone’s home screens, the device may freeze for a few seconds or the user may get the error message that says “Unfortunately, Nova Launcher has stopped.”

Regardless of the symptoms you have, I just want you to know that this issue isn’t that complicated. In fact, you may be able to resolve it immediately by removing Nova Launcher from your phone but if you’re like me who enjoy using this app, then that wouldn’t be the best solution. So, in this post, I will walk you through in finding the real fix; a solution that will get rid of the problems so you could continue using the app. That’s the real solution. If you’re one of the users of this app and are currently having similar problems, then continue reading as this article may help you one way or another.

How to fix Galaxy S8 Plus with Nova Launcher that keeps crashing

More often than not, this problem is only with the app that keeps on crashing which, in this case, is the Nova Launcher. You can fix it easily without asking anybody for help and here’s what you have to do…

Reboot your S8 Plus – it might be just a minor glitch in the system and a reboot might be able to fix it especially if it’s the first time that the app started to crash. So, hit that power key and take a little time rebooting your phone. After the restart, try to see if Nova Launcher still crashes or not and if it still does, try doing the forced restart by pressing and holding the volume down and power keys at the same time for 10 seconds. This will refresh your phone’s memory and reload all apps and services. If the problem still persists after this, then move on to the next procedure.

Clear cache and data of Nova Launcher – by doing this, you’re resetting the app back to its default settings and configurations. If this is just a problem with the app, then this procedure will be enough to fix it. What it does is delete all the caches created by the system to make it run smoother as well as the data files necessary for the app to work perfectly. For this, you have to go into Settings and App Manager and look for Nova Launcher, then you can reset the app from there. But if the problem continues after this, then you should try the next procedure.

Uninstall Nova Launcher and re-install it – applications have to be updated to work perfectly with the firmware especially if the latter has recently been updated. But instead of just updating Nova Launcher, it’s better to just uninstall it and reinstall it to make sure you have the latest version of the app. Assuming the problem is with the app and has something to do with compatibility, then this is the answer to that. However, if the issue isn’t fixed after this, then the next procedure will.

Backup your files and reset your phone – I know it’s just an app problem but after uninstalling and reinstalling and the issue continues, you have no other choice but to reset your phone. But before you actually do that, make sure you make a backup of your important files and data as they will be deleted.
