New WhatsApp Update Allows You to Share Status with Other Social Media Apps

WhatsApp is one of the most popular instant messaging applications in the world. Some users are reportedly seeing the ability to share their WhatsApp status over Gmail, Google Photos, Facebook or even Instagram. There will be a new share button on your stories for this purpose.

It is said that this process will not link your two accounts, instead working locally since you’re using the same device. So in essence, WhatsApp will not have any details about your Facebook, Instagram or Gmail accounts.

This feature was seen in the initial beta builds and several users claim that it’s been spotted on version 2.19.184 (Android). Given the nature of this feature, we won’t be surprised if this makes its way to iPhones as well. As it stands, however, the feature should start rolling out to Android users. Although you may not be required to manually update the app, it may help to keep an eye out on the Play Store.

WhatsApp Status is something that was intended to be as popular as Instagram Stories (or Snapchat), but it clearly hasn’t struck a chord with the users. There’s also word that WhatsApp Status will start seeing ads starting next year, finally allowing the company to monetize the app.

Are you a WhatsApp user? Do you think this new feature will make any major difference?
