LG G5 Stopped Reading microSD Card

Problem: I recently got an lg  5. It’s about 2 weeks old and worked fine until last night. I was playing a game and the phone was on the charger actually the battery was full buy it was still on the charger. So then the phone cut off and said 0% battery remaining. It stayed like that for about 30 minutes despite being connected to the charger it wouldn’t charge so I took the battery out for about 15 minutes and I finally got it to charge to 1% and turned on the phone. It took forever to charge and I noticed it had decided to stop reading my SD card. I tried to mount it and every time my phone would freeze and say settings not responding. So I take it out and put it back in and it won’t even recognize that it’s there most times but sometimes it will say that the SD card type is not supported. Well then it says I have to format it so I try to format it and guess what it won’t format it, it just says SD card is being checked. So I deleted everything off my phone and performed a factory reset and it still is doing the same shit. I have no idea what is wrong and it seems like it’s running slower too. So can u tell me what is wrong and how to fix it?

Solution: There’s a possibility that the microSD card that you are using has corrupt sectors and is damaged already. What you need to do in this case is to get a new microSD card then check if the same issue still occurs.

Regarding the phone taking a long time to charge you can address this issue by performing the steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air.
  • Try charging the phone using a different charging cord and wall charger.
  • Try replacing the battery with a new one.

LG G5 Not Charging

Problem: Hi, after my firmware update of LG G5, which was never completed. i tried to restart my cell phone as per battery was full i didn’t had to charge it. The time it got drained i tried to charge my cell but continuously it was giving charging error. I turned it off and tried to on it again but it’s not getting on now. it’s even not charging not giving display. Can you suggest me a solution?

Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in this port is removed. Once this is done try to check if the phone can charge and turn on. If the issue persists then proceed with the steps listed below.

  • Try using a different charging cord and wall charger.
  • Try charging the phone from a computer USB port.
  • Try using a new battery.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

LG G5 Is Not Fast Charging

Problem: I bought my phone in the beginning of this summer from Amazon UK. From today I noticed an issue with my phone LG G5, . Usually when I put it on the charger (its own one), the phone charges fully for around and hour and a half. On the charger it is also written “Fast charger”. And I was completely satisfied with this feature. But from today, the phone doesn’t charge itself fast anymore. I put it on the charger and for an hour and some, from 5%, it was around 22%. This has never happened. And this continues during the whole day. It is needed twice as much time and even more so that the phone can reach these 100%. When I enter the battery menu, it normally shows me the time that’s needed for fully charging – as I said, usually no more than an hour and a half. But now it doesn’t even say the time needed. It is written that the phone is calculating the time needed and “please wait”. And the phone is charging like this for hours. Also I tried to put it on my wireless charger which normally charges my phone till 60% and now it barely reached 30%. And also, the phone is really heating itself, that has never happened before. I wonder where is the problem coming from and how to fix it. Is it the battery or the charger and should I buy new ones, I don’t know. Everything was perfect till this morning. I hope that you can help me with this issue because my phone is brand new and I like how it works. This is my only problem with it since I have it.

Solution: Since this problem occurs even when you use the wireless charger to charge the phone then this could be caused either by a software glitch or a faulty battery. What you will want to do first is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete try to check if the issue still occurs. If it does then you should get a new battery for your phone as it’s very likely that your phone has a faulty battery.

LG G5 Wi-Fi Button Is Greyed Out

Problem: Hi guys, my LG G5 just stopped connecting to wifi and the button greyed out, so i did a factory reset and now it will not allow me through the verification page of my google account i have tried many times even to bypass this as i have watched videos on youtube but my device just says complete setup to continue. please help as i really need  this phone to contact my clients.

Solution: A factory reset is what you will need to do first if the Wi-Fi button of the phone is greyed out. The problem right now is that you are unable to go past the verification page. What error message are you getting? Is the Google account that you have entered correct? If you have entered an incorrect password then try resetting your password from a computer then try to access your phone again.

In case the issue persists then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

LG G5 Gets Frozen When Charging

Problem: I’ve only had my LG G5 for about 5 months. I’ve had 3 updates & the problem occurred with the last update so I’m kinda suspicious. When I charge my phone, it stays locked on the “charge screen” with so many minutes left to go. The minutes wind down so the screen isn’t totally frozen. However, I can’t swipe or do anything to go back to my home page. I have to restart the phone every time which is annoying considering this phone doesn’t have the longest battery.    Thanks for the reply even though I’m not really looking for an answer. I just wanted to vent about 1 more thing about the LG G5 phone. I’m taking the phone to the store to show them also.  As info, when I charge the phone with a different charger & cable (the one I have been using since I had the phone after about 2 wks) I no longer get the round circle to click on to take me back to the home screen after the phone has charged or even it I haven’t charged it fully.  It won’t do anything even when I click on the buttons below. I have to physically restart the phone to make it come back on where I can make an outbound call.  {Even though I know about not using the phone while it’s charging, I still was able to click on the return button (while it was charging) & make a phone call.  The phone didn’t blow up! I tried charging with the original charger and it appeared to be OK (at first). The home screen stayed on, the charge indicator showed that the phone was charging and I made a phone call to test and it worked OK. However, as soon as I took the charger from the phone, the phone charge screen appeared and I was locked up until  I restarted the phone.  At first I thought it was the charger, but apparently, it’s something going on with the phone. Like I said above, I really don’t expect you to research this situation, I just wanted to let you know just in case you start to see this as a trend with this or other phones. One more thing – I like the HD voice as everyone says that they can hear me more clear than before. However, as soon as I turn slightly, (which I have done with plenty of other models of phones) they say they can’t hear me at all. Therefore, HD voice is great, but apparently the movability of the person speaking is limited.  I might shift slightly, but not to make a difference so as the person can’t hear me at all. I guess we gave up one thing for another.

Solution: If this issue occurs when you charge your phone then it’s likely that the culprit is either the charging port or the phone charger. Try cleaning the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air then check if the issue still occurs. If it does then ty using a different charging cord and wall charger. If the issue persists then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

LG G5 Not Charging Not Turning On

Problem: My phone  was charging and then I clicked the back button to turn on the screen and it wouldn’t turn on. I tried several times and then took the battery out and put it back in and plugged the charger back in. The screen quickly flashed the battery image then shut off and the light wasn’t on showing it was charging even though it was plugged in. I took the battery out again and made sure there was no debris on it and also tried to clean out the charging port but again nothing was in it and the charger felt secure in my phone. I then tried to turn it on it safe mode or get to where I could do a factory reset but I couldn’t even get it to bring up this screen. The furthest it will go is showing the LG symbol sometimes flashing a couple times but won’t go any further than that. I also went to a store and tried it with a new battery but it was the same thing. I found your website online and I’m really hoping you can help as you seem extremely knowledgeable in specific phone issues. I’m currently travelling in Vietnam so it’s hard to ask someone in a store for help too. Thank you!!

Solution: If using a new battery on the phone fails to fix the problem then this is most likely caused by an internal component that is failing to work, possibly the power IC. You will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked if this is the case.
