Troubleshooting a Galaxy A50 with ‘Internet keeps stopping’ error

Internet is a pre-installed application and while a problem like this may be just an issue with the app, there’s always a possibility that it’s a sign of a serious firmware issue. We will look into that and with that being said, here’s what you should do:

First solution: Perform the Forced Restart

Before anything else, take a little time doing the forced restart because this error can be just due to a minor glitch in the firmware. Glitches and other minor problems can be fixed by this procedure. Here’s how you do it:

  1. Press and hold the Volume Down button and don’t release it yet.
  2. While holding down the volume button, press and hold the Power key as well.
  3. Keep both keys held down together for 15 seconds or until the Galaxy A50 logo shows on the screen.

Once your phone has successfully rebooted, launch the app and see if the ‘Internet keeps stopping’ error still shows up. If it does, move on to the next solution.

Second solution: Clear the cache and data of Internet app

Clearing the cache and data of the app will reset it. If this is just an issue with the app, then this procedure will surely fix it. However, you may lose some of your data like browsing history and bookmarks. But if you were able to synced your phone with your account, those data may have already been saved in the cloud and you may still be able to retrieve them after this. Here’s how you do the app reset:

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down.
  2. Tap the Settings icon on the upper-right corner.
  3. Scroll to and then tap Apps.
  4. Find and tap Internet.
  5. Tap Storage.
  6. Touch Clear cache.
  7. Touch Clear data and then tap OK to confirm.

Once you’re done doing this, try to launch the app and see if the ‘Internet keeps stopping’ error still shows up.

Third solution: Reset all settings of your phone

If the first and second procedures failed to fix the problem, the next thing you have to do is bring your phone’s settings back to factory defaults without deleting your files and data. This is an effective solution against app problems and it’s pretty easy to do. Here’s how:

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to pull the notification panel down.
  2. Tap the Settings icon on the upper-right corner.
  3. Scroll to and tap General management.
  4. Touch Reset.
  5. Tap Reset settings.
  6. Tap the Reset settings button.
  7. If prompted, enter your PIN, Password or Pattern.
  8. Finally, tap Reset.

After resetting the settings and the app still crashes when opened, then it’s time to troubleshoot the firmware.

Fourth solution: Wipe the cache partition

Wiping the contents of the cache partition will delete the old cache and replace it with a new one. This is an important procedure because the system cache may have been corrupted and needs to be replaced. Don’t worry, none of your files and data will be deleted if you did this:

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up and Power keys.
  3. When the Galaxy A50 logo shows, release all three keys.
  4. Your Galaxy A50 will continue to boot up into the Recovery Mode. Once you see a black screen with blue and yellow texts, proceed to the next step.
  5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition.
  6. Press Power key to select.
  7. Press the Volume down key to highlight yes, them and press the Power key to select.
  8. When the wipe cache partition is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted.
  9. Press the Power key to restart the device.

Once the phone has rebooted successfully, launch the app and try to browse to see if the ‘Internet keeps stopping’ error still shows. If it does, then you have to do the next solution.

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up and Power keys.
  3. When the Galaxy A50 logo shows, release all three keys.
