If you are new to Android and want to know how Pattern, PIN, and Password are configured, follow the steps for each below.

Secure your Galaxy Note10+ lock screen with Pattern

This option to secure the lock screen offers medium security. Here’s how to set it up:

  1. From the Home screen, find and open Settings app.
  2. Tap Lock screen.
  3. Tap Screen lock type.
  4. Tap Pattern.
  5. Enter the pattern you want.
  6. Confirm the pattern by entering again.
  7. Tap Done at the bottom.

IMPORTANT: Make sure that you remember the pattern you set up. If you can’t remember it in the future, you will have to erase your phone to access it again. This will result to data loss if you have unsaved files.

Secure your Galaxy Note10+ lock screen with PIN

Using PIN is a more secure way than Pattern. Here’s how to set it up:

  1. From the Home screen, find and open Settings app.
  2. Tap Lock screen.
  3. Tap Screen lock type.
  4. Tap PIN.
  5. Enter the PIN you want. It must have a minimum of 4 digits. Try using a combination that you can easily remember. Avoid using your birthday or anything that can easily be guessed by a determined hacker.
  6. Confirm the PIN by entering it again.
  7. Tap Done at the bottom.

IMPORTANT: Make sure that you remember the pattern you set up. If you can’t remember it in the future, you will have to erase your phone to access it again. This will result to data loss if you have unsaved files.

Secure your Galaxy Note10+ lock screen with Password

We highly recommend that you use a password if you think that there’s a high chance of your device falling into the wrong hands. Password as screen unlock option is more secure than Pattern and PIN so it’s highly preferable. Below are the steps to set it up:

  1. From the Home screen, find and open Settings app.
  2. Tap Lock screen.
  3. Tap Screen lock type.
  4. Tap Password.
  5. Enter the Password you want. It must have a minimum of 4 characters and at least 1 letter. Use a password that you can easily remember but something that others may not guess easily.
  6. Confirm the Password by entering it again.
  7. Tap Done at the bottom.
