How to remove or hide the notch on LG G7 ThinQ

Following Apple’s lead, the latest Android flagship devices of 2018 are all now sporting the notorious Notch. While it has a harmonious necessity in Apple’s iPhone X and later models, we can’t see anything similar on Android devices. We think that the notch, especially in an LG G7 ThinQ only uses prime real estate on your screen without giving you a real value in terms of functionality. For the uninitiated, the notch we’re talking about is the black box on top of the screen. Other than take a space on the screen, it’s only function is to house the front-facing camera and other sensors. If you’re one of the users who finds the notch annoying or ugly, then below are the ways to get rid of it.

Method 1: Remove or hide the notch on LG G7 ThinQ under Settings menu

The easiest way to hide the notch on this device is by using the option in Settings. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Open Settings app.
  2. Tap Display.
  3. Tap New Second Screen.
  4. Tap on the Custom radio button. LG provides more customization options for its New Second Screen feature. You can change its color or adjust the corners by toggling App Corners radio buttons.

Method 2: Remove or hide the notch on LG G7 ThinQ ThinQ using an app

The second option to remove the Notch on LG G7 ThinQ is by using a third party app like Nacho Notch. There are other dedicated apps like Nacho Notch to accomplish this task but we stick to this one because it’s the only one we’ve used so far. This app can be downloaded for free from the Play Store and doesn’t require much information for you. If you don’t want to use Nacho Notch, you can surely use other similar ones.

Unlike the built-in option to hide the notch, Nacho Notch will not make the spaces around the notch useless. It leaves the status bar around it usable, allowing notifications and icons to continue showing up at the top. To make it easier to use, you can put a Nacho Notch quick settings tile in the notification drawer. This allows you to quickly enable or disable it.

Nacho Notch doesn’t work on the lock screen so the notch should still be visible there.
