If an update is available then I suggest that you download and install it first. You can check for any available updates by connecting the tablet to a computer with Smart Switch installed.

Check if the problem is caused by the router

The first thing you will need to do in this case is to verify if the problem is caused by your router. Can other devices connect to it successfully? Does the router have a setting activated (Mac Filtering) that is blocking the tablet from connecting to it? One quick way to check if this is a router related issue is to try connecting your device to a different Wi-Fi network then check if the issue still occurs.

Perform a soft reset

One you have made sure that the problem is not caused by the router it’s time to troubleshoot the tablet. The first thing you will want to do is to refresh the its software which can be done easily by simply restarting the device.

  • Press and hold the Power and Volume down key for up to 45 seconds.
  • Wait as the device restarts.

Reset the network settings

This step is usually done whenever the device is having a problem connecting to a data network.  The following changes will occur on the tablet.

  • Stored Wi-Fi networks will be deleted.

  • When Safe mode appears in the bottom left corner of the screen, release the Volume down key.

Wipe the cache partition

  • Turn off the tablet.
  • Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key, then press and hold the Power key.
  • When the Android logo displays, release all three keys.
  • An ‘Installing system update’ message will show for 30 – 60 seconds before the Android system recovery menu options appear.
  • Press the Volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition.
  • Press Power key to select.
  • Press the Volume down key to highlight yes, them and press the Power key to select.
  • When the wipe cache partition is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted.
  • Press the Power key to restart the device.

Check if the issue still occurs.

Perform a factory reset

In case the above steps fails to fix the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 won’t connect to Wi-Fi issue then chances are this is caused by a software glitch. The best way to deal with this right now is to perform a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

  • Turn off the tablet.
  • Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key, then press and hold the Power key.
  • When the green Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  • Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset’.
  • Press Power button to select.
  • Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted.
  • Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
  • When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  • Press the Power key to restart the device.

If the issue still persists even after performing the steps listed above then this might already be caused by a faulty hardware component. The best thing to do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
