S4 Sound Stopped Working
Problem: About a month ago the sound on my phone just stopped working. If I plug in my headphones I can hear, but I have no microphone, so no one can hear me. The alarm, the ringer, the keyboard, messages, music, no sound whatsoever. I have tried restarting it a million times, tried putting my headphones in and out a few times, blew hard all over to try and clear dust and whatnot away. Sometimes it comes back randomly for an hour or two, then cuts out again. I have looked everywhere online for some advice or at least word of someone else experiencing the same problem, but I cannot find a solution that works for me. My phone says it has no new system updates everytime I check for them. I have not downloaded any new apps recently. I’m not sure what else could possibly be the problem. But any advice would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks in advance.
Solution: If the sound comes back randomly sometimes then there may still be hope. To troubleshoot this problem the first thing you need to do is to make sure that the settings are correct.Check and make sure that your phone is not set on silent mode. Press the volume up button of your phone until you see the volume display on the screen reach its maximum setting. Make sure that the headphone icon does not show on the screen. If you see this icon even if no headphones are plugged in then this may be the reason why you are not hearing any sound at all.
Once you have confirmed that the sound settings are normal and the issue still persists then it’s time to suspect the phone software as the main culprit. I suggest you do a backup of your phone data then do a factory reset. If the factory reset fails to resolve the issue then this may already be a hardware related problem. I suggest you bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
S4 No Sound When Using Bluetooth
Problem: Hello I recently bought a wireless Bluetooth speaker from Huawei and when i connect it to my Galaxy S4 the wifi disconnects and I can’t play any music from Youtube or SoundCloud If you have any idea how to fix this please respond. Thank you in advance.
Solution: This issue is not only affecting the S4 but other phone models as well. The primary suspect is the phone software version so if your phone is running on outdated software then I suggest you check for the latest update then apply it.
Once your phone is running on the latest software update, which should be Lollipop, and the issue still persists then the next step is to check if the problem occurs with any other wireless Bluetooth speaker. If you have access to another Bluetooth speaker then try connecting it to your phone and see if the issue remains the same.
This problem may also be caused by the router itself. Try connecting your phone to a different Wi-Fi network then see if the issue is still the same.
You should also check if a certain app installed in your phone is causing this problem. To do this, just start your phone in Safe Mode. In this mode of operating only the pre-installed apps are able to run while the third party apps that you installed are disabled. Turn on your phone Wi-Fi and Bluetooth then connect the Huawei speaker. If the problem disappears then it may be caused by an app installed in your phone. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
If the above troubleshooting steps fail to resolve the problem then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Check if the issue still occurs.
S4 Sound Changes To Mute Automatically
Problem: Ever since I installed the lollipop software my ringer either mutes itself or turns itself on vibrate. I I’ve gone into the sound settings every time it does this, which is several times a day, and the ringer line is all the way over to the off position. The other ringers are the same as I set them. They never move. I’m the only user on this phone. There is no rhyme or reason as to when it will happen. I won’t even be using it and have checked to make sure the ringer is on when I put it on my desk. Quite often it’s changed to vibrate or off. I’m missing a lot of calls. I have the True call block installed, but it was on my phone before I upgraded. I’m looking for a job and I’d rather answer the phone instead of going to voicemail and take a chance of not getting the entire voicemail. Can you help? I trust you guys more than my phones techs.
Solution: Try checking first if this issue is caused by a third party app installed in your phone by starting your device in Safe Mode. Once in this mode observe your phone and see if the sound changes on its own. If it doesn’t then the problem is most likely caused by a third party app installed in your phone. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
If however you are still experiencing the same issue even when your phone is in Safe Mode then this may be an upgrade related issue. Your phone may still have data from the old software version stored in it. This is old data is causing a conflict with the new software which in turn causes this kind of issue. The best way to resolve this is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
S4 No Sound
Problem: there is no sound at all , when reboot it gives sound other than that there is no sound ( calls , media , ringtone .. etc ) moreover there is no problem with both speaker , when connecting headphones no sound could be heard.
Solution: Try checking your phone settings first and make sure that the sound volume is set to its maximum level. Press on the volume up button and make sure that you can see the sound icon on the phone display.
Since you mentioned that even when headphones on no sound can be heard then the most likely cause to this is a software problem. I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Check if the issue still occurs after the reset. If i still occurs then this may already be hardware related. If this is the case then you should bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
S4 No Audio
Problem: There is no audio / sound on my phone anymore even when all my ringtone, system & media volume are all on & turned up… There is no sound output for anything that should (& used to) have sound, including but not limited to ringtones, videos, music, general app sounds, & any other sound that my phone is supposed to make when not in vibrate or silent mode. I can no longer make or receive phone calls because when I answer the call I can’t hear the caller & the caller can’t hear me!! I can’t even call to get my voicemail because there is absolutely NO SOUND output on my phone anymore!! The problem persists even when booted in Safe Mode, & I have done several factory resets to no avail. This has become beyond frustrating because it used to work fine & one day just stopped working… Any suggestions or troubleshooting ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Solution: If you already performed a factory reset then we can set aside the software troubleshooting. One possible cause as to why this issue is happening is your phone speaker may already be faulty. If this is the case then you should bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
You should however also check if your phone is just stuck in headphone mode. Try connecting the headphones in your phone then check if you can hear any sound. If you can hear the sound then try to take out the headphones and insert it again. Repeat this procedure a couple of times. This will usually resolve a phone that is stuck in headphone mode.
