How to fix OnePlus 6 that won’t turn on (easy fix)
It’s been almost a couple of months since OnePlus 6 has been released and many owners have turned to online forums to seek assistance for their problems. One of the most commonly reported issues is that the phone reportedly turns off on its own and would no longer turn back on. Some brought their devices to the shop and have to wait for an hour or two to get the problem fixed while others had their devices replaced.

How to fix OnePlus 6 that won’t turn on
While this kind of problem may leave you thinking your phone has a serious hardware issue, in reality, you might just be dealing with a minor firmware problem. Here’s what you should do when your phone no longer responds or turns on…
The Solution: Forced Reboot
The most common reason why a phone has a black screen and not responding is a system crash. Back in the day when all cellphones have removable batteries, when they crash or not responding, we just have to remove the back cover and pull the battery out. That should immediately take care of the problem; you would find your phone booting up again when you hit the power key. Sure you will have to set the time and data again but it was very easy to fix this kind of issue before. Today, however, when almost all smartphones have non-removable batteries, this kind of issue may make some owners panic. But if you’re reading this now, don’t worry, there’s always a solution.
To make your OnePlus 6 with a black screen respond again, do this:
- press and hold down the Power key for 10 seconds to restart it.
This is a very simple procedure but very effective when it comes to possible firmware crash issues. It will perform a simulated battery pull procedure and your phone will surely respond to it as it’s hardwired to do so. However, if the phone is still not responding after this, then try the following:
- Connect your OnePlus 6 to its charger regardless whether it responds or not.
- Leave it connected to the charger for 10 minutes or so.
- Press and hold the power key for 10 seconds or until the device boots up.
If your phone continues to be unresponsive and won’t turn on even after doing all these steps, then it’s time you brought it back to the store to have it checked or replaced especially if the problem started on its own without apparent reason.
