How to fix Huawei P30 Lite won’t turn on | not turning on
If your Huawei P30 Lite won’t turn on, follow the troubleshooting steps below.
Huawei P30 Lite won’t turn on fix #1: Check battery level and charge | calibrate
Although not a common occurrence, Huawei devices may fail to power back on right away from time to time. If your Huawei P30 Lite won’t turn on and you did nothing different in terms of using it, its battery may have probably drained. What you need to do in this case is charge it for at least 30 minutes. Make sure not to turn the phone back on while it’s charging to avoid reducing the amount of power being added to the battery. Leave the device charged for half an hour before you try to turn it back on again. This should be enough time to give the battery a boost and hopefully turn the device back on.
When the phone recovers or if charging is successful, make sure that you recalibrate the battery and software with these steps:
- Drain the battery completely. This means using your device until it powers down by its own and the battery level reads 0%.
- Charge the phone until it reaches 100%. Be sure to use original charging equipment for your device and let it charge up completely. Do not unplug your device for at least two more hours and also don’t use it while charging.
- After the elapsed time, unplug your device.
- Restart the device.
- Use your phone until it
Huawei P30 Lite won’t turn on fix #2: Restart device
If your device appears to be charging but remains unresponsive if you try to turn it on, the system may have frozen for some reason. The next troubleshooting step that you want to do is to find out if your Huawei P30 still turns on after a restart. Try to do a forced reboot by pressing and holding the Power key for 10 to 15 seconds. If your phone works, it should reboot and you should feel a vibration and see the Huawei logo. In case you do not feel the vibration and the screen is still blank, then simply press and hold the Power Key for more time until you see the device restart itself.
If nothing changes after attempting to reboot the device a few times, you can abandon this troubleshooting and proceed to the next ones below.
Huawei P30 Lite won’t turn on fix #3: Charge using another set
Like the phone itself, charging accessories like cables and adapters can break. In case the problem lies with the charging accessories, you should consider using another set of cable and adapter for this device. If you have a friend with the same device, try to borrow his or her charging cable and adapter to charge your Huawei device for 30 minutes. This should help you determine if the current set of cable and adapter is defective or not.
Huawei P30 Lite won’t turn on fix #4: Check the port
Sometimes, charging may fail if the charging port has an issue. One of the common reasons why a charging port may fail to work is if there’s something blocking the cable from making good connection when charging. This can be due to presence of dirt, lint, foreign object, or hardware damage. Try doing a visual inspection of the charging port and the system inside. If you can’t be sure and want to check the inside of the port more clearly, try using a magnifying tool. Accumulation of dust or dirt may prevent charging to work. In turn, lack of battery power can be the reason why your Huawei P30 Lite won’t turn on. If you suspect that the charging port may be blocked, or if there’s dirt inside, try to remove the foreign object with a can of compressed air. Do not attempt to insert anything inside to avoid damaging the system.
Huawei P30 Lite won’t turn on fix #5: Verify is screen is damaged
Some Huawei P30 Lite users may confuse No Power issue (won’t turn on) with Black Screen problem. If your device shows signs that it’s turning on like vibrating when restarted or getting notifications, or making a sound, it may have a Black Screen issue. This means that the system is not fully disabled although you may need to have the screen replaced. If this situation occurred after you drop the phone or hit it with something hard, you may have a black screen issue at hand. Be sure to contact Huawei so they can replace the screen for you.
Huawei P30 Lite won’t turn on fix #6: Create backup
In case the screen is the only problem, there may still be a chance that you can transfer your data to a computer before sending it in. Creating a backup in Android normally needs a good working screen to allow a user to unlock the device and navigate the software. We’re not very optimistic on this one but you should at least give it a try.
Make sure to connect your Huawei P30 to your computer using a known working USB cable. Then, once you’ve done, check the computer to see if it detects your Huawei P30 your phone must be powered on in order to be detected. If a computer detects it, then try to unlock the screen (if possible) and go back to your computer. If its file browser can access the contents of your device, copy everything you want saved.
For data security purposes, an Android device must give permission to a computer before file transfer can occur. This means that you must unlock the screen and confirm a data transfer request from the computer. Obviously, you can’t do any of these if the screen is broken. If the phone has a screen lock, you must unlock it first so a broken screen means you won’t be able to do it. Needless to say, creating a backup is impossible if the screen is not working. Forget about creating a backup if you’re in this situation.
A lot of Android users hope that there’s a way to mirror their screen to a monitor or computer to navigate the software. Unfortunately, this is not possible on Android if the screen is broken in the first place. The screen assembly is both a screen and a way to access the software so two of its major parts include a monitor and digitizer. The former displays the images while the latter is a sensor that takes finger touches and converts them into signals. Even if the monitor is working, you will still be unable to unlock the screen if the digitizer is broken.
Huawei P30 Lite won’t turn on fix #7: Try booting to Safe Mode
Sometimes, a bad app may interfere with Android or with other apps. If your Huawei P30 Lite started not turning on after you installed a new app, that app may be the reason for the problem. Since you are unable to delete that app as the phone won’t boot up, you can try to see if you can restart the device to safe mode instead. In this mode, all third party apps will be blocked and won’t run at all. So, if you can successfully restart your Huawei device to safe mode, you can bet an app is to blame. Here’s how to boot it to safe mode:
- Power off the device.
- Power it back on.
- Once you see the Huawei animation on the screen press and hold Volume Down button.
- If successful, you can see safe mode at the bottom left corner once the device finishes booting.
- Now that the device has started on safe mode, charge it and see if there’s a difference.
Don’t forget: safe mode blocks third party apps but it won’t tell you which of them is the real cause. If you think that there’s a rogue third party app in the system, you must identify it. Here’s what you need to do exactly:
- Boot to safe mode.
- Check for the problem.
- Once you’ve confirmed that a third party app is to blame, you can start uninstalling apps individually. We suggest that you begin with the most recent ones you added.
- After you uninstall an app, restart the phone to normal mode and check for the problem.
- If your Huawei P30 is still problematic, repeat steps 1-4.
However, if you are unable to restart your phone to safe mode at all, try to see if you can boot to Recovery Mode instead.
Huawei P30 Lite won’t turn on fix #8: Verify if device boots to Recovery Mode
This method is useful in one particular situation: when Settings menu is not accessible. There may be a variety of reasons why Settings menu may become unreachable. In some cases, the device may have simply frozen or unresponsive. At other times, it can be due to a problem that you are currently trying to troubleshoot. In any case, you must do Hard reset on Huawei P30 P30 via Recovery Mode when the situation forces you to. To boot to your Huawei P30 to Recovery Mode:
- Turn off the mobile by pressing the Power key for a few moments.
- Press and hold Volume Up and Power buttons for a couple of seconds.
- When Recovery Mode appears let go of all keys.
- If your device boots to Recovery Mode only, then proceed with factory reset to fix the problem.
- Choose “wipe data/factory reset”. Use Volume buttons to navigate and the Power key to accept it.
- Confirm the operation by typing in “yes” and select “wipe data/factory reset”.
- When you see the Google Verification info confirm the operation by selecting “wipe data/factory reset”.
- Finally choose “reboot system now” by using the Power key.
