How to fix Google Play Store error 413 on Samsung Galaxy S9

The Google Play Store error 413 is an installation issue which can be caused by interrupted connection, interrupted reading/writing on storage device or a firmware-related problem. Many Samsung Galaxy S9 owners have been complaining about this so we feel the need to address this problem for the benefit of our readers.

In this post, I will guide you in troubleshooting your Galaxy S9 that keeps showing up the Play Store error 413 when you download or install an app. The actual error may appear like this “An app could not be downloaded due to an error. (413)” and this will prompt you to redownload the app only to be greeted by the same error over and over. Now, here’s what you need to do if your Galaxy S9 keeps showing the Play Store error 413 every time you install an app…

  1. Force restart your Galaxy S9 first.
  2. Clear cache and data of the Play Store and try re-installing the app.
  3. Remove Google account from phone and add it again.
  4. Reset network settings of your device.
  5. Factory reset your Galaxy S9.

A force restart is often what you need to do when this kind of problem occurs. As I said earlier, this could be due to an interruption with your phone’s internet connection, which can be fixed by a simple reboot. However, I suggest you do the forced reboot which is far more effective. To do it, just press and hold the volume down and power keys together for 10 seconds or more. Once the phone has become active after the reboot, open the Play Store and redownload the same app to see if the error still shows up.

The next thing to do if the error continues to pop up is to clear the cache and data of the Play Store. This will reset the app store and bring it back to its default settings and configuration. You can do this by going to the Settings > Application Manager and find Google Play Store. If the problem continues after this, then try the next procedure.

Remove your Google account from your phone and add it back again after a reboot. This will refresh all the syncs and revalidate your activities. Your Google account is connected to all activities your phone does especially if it’s the services offered by Google. Once you’re set your account up again, try to download the app and see if the problem is fixed. If not, then try the next procedure.

Resetting the network settings of your phone will refresh all connections. You will need to reconnect your device to the network if you’re using WiFi and if you’re using mobile data, everything will be automated since cellular data is the default method of your phone to connect to the network. This is how to reset network settings on your Galaxy S9:

  1. From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
  2. Tap Settings > General Management > Reset > Reset network settings.
  3. Tap RESET SETTINGS.
  4. If you have set up a PIN, enter it.
  5. Tap RESET SETTINGS. Once complete, a confirmation window will appear.

If all else fails, then you have no other choice but to factory reset your phone. A reset will fix every firmware-related issues with your device but make sure to backup all your important files and data as they will be deleted during the process.

  1. Back up data on the internal memory. If you have signed into a Samsung account on the device, you have activated Anti-theft and will need your Samsung credentials to finish the master reset.
  2. Turn off the device.
  3. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
  4. When the green Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset’.
  6. Press Power button to select.
  7. Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted.
  8. Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
  9. When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
  10. Press the Power key to restart the device.
