Here are the things you have to do if your Fitbit Alta HR is not syncing properly with your phone…
- Restart your Fitbit Alta HR.
- Force close fitbit app on your phone.
- Remove device from fitbit account and add it again.
The Fitbit Alta HR is actually a very simple device despite having a sophisticated operating system or firmware. Most of the problems that have been reported by users can be fixed by this very simple solution–reboot. Here’s how you do it…
- Plug your charging cable into a USB port on your computer or any UL-certified USB wall charger.
- Clip the other end of the charging cable to the port on the back of the tracker. The pins on the charging cable must lock securely with the port. You’ll know the connection is secure when the tracker vibrates and you see a battery icon on your tracker’s display. Your tracker will begin charging.
- Press the button on your charging cable 3 times within a few seconds, briefly pausing between presses. The button is on the end of the charging cable that is plugged into your computer. When you see the Fitbit logo and the tracker vibrates, this means the tracker has restarted.
- Unplug your tracker from the charging cable.
After this, try to see if the problem is fixed and if not, then proceed to the next solution.
On your device, close the Fitbit app. You may have to view the most used apps and then swipe it left or right to completely close it. You’re doing this because there’s always a possibility that the syncing problem is an issue with the app and not your tracker or your phone. After force closing the app, try to open it and test to see if the problem is fixed.
The last thing you have to do on your own if the problem persists is to login to your Fitbit account via a web browser on your computer or laptop. From there, remove the Alta HR from your account and then add it back again and see if the problem is fixed. If it’s still happening, then call support.

This is the second fitbit charge 5 I have had and yet again the heart rate monitor has stopped working, so it doesn’t track this nor my sleep. I have followed guidance and advice online to try to repair the issue but nothing works, please can you advise?
