How To Fix Bose Soundlink Mini II Does Not Charge Problem

If you are looking for a Bluetooth speaker that gives a deeper bass to the quality of the sound despite its palm size, Bose Soundlink Mini II is the answer. You can’t go wrong with this speaker. It’s casing is made from aluminum, simple and classy but durable. Although Mini II was replaced by Mini II special edition by mid 2019, there’s not much of a difference between the two. Perhaps the only obvious difference is the battery life wherein special edition lasts up to 12 hours while the other one lasts only for about 10 hours. Since the special edition is the newest Soundlink Mini II, both speakers can also experience the same problem such as the speaker does not charge. In this article, we will talk about Soundlink Mini II and the troubleshooting methods to fix Soundlink Mini II will not charge issue.

What to do to Fix Soundlink Mini II will not Charge

There are several reasons why this problem can occur such as power outlet not functioning to a faulty charger. It is also possible that Bluetooth speaker needs a reset and that’s what causing Bose speaker not charging.

Before performing the methods below, here are a few specification highlights of the Bluetooth speaker.

  • Dimensions: 2.1” H x 7.1” W x 2.3″ D
  • Weight: 1.5 lbs.
  • Input: 3.5mm auxilliary
  • Output: USB micro-B (Mini II); USB-C (Mini II special edition)
  • Wireless range: 30 feet or 9 meters
  • Battery Life: 10 hours (Mini II); 12 hours (Mini II special edition)

Listed below are troubleshooting methods that you can try to fix Bose Soundlink Mini 2, the following methods also applies to Bose Soundlink Mini II special edition

Method 1: Make sure power outlet is working

The very first thing that you need to do in case the Bluetooth speaker will not charge is to check if the power outlet that you are connecting to is working. To determine this, as soon as you plug or connect speaker to the power outlet it emits a tone or a sound. If a tone is not heard, try connecting another electronic device to the same power outlet to make sure if its working or the problem is on the Bose speaker itself.

Method 2: Try using a different charger

Charging time for an electronic, in here the Bluetooth speaker, depends on the charger. High current rating can charge devices faster as compared to chargers with a lower current rating. Make sure to use a charger that has a high current rating such as 1 amp or 1000 milliamp or even higher is advised.

Try to charge product again, if a flashing red light is seen, it means that the product is charging.

Method 3: Reset Bluetooth Bose Soundlink

After the first two methods mentioned above did not fix problem with Bose speaker not charging issue, it is recommended to reset the product.

Resetting is a simple process, follow the steps below:

  1. Press Power Button to turn on Bose speaker.
  2. Press and hold Power button for 10 seconds.
  3. Wait until product turns off then release button.

After resetting Bose speaker, set up the product again and then try to charge it. If a flashing red light is seen, it means that the product is charging.

If you are using a charging cradle to charge the speaker, try the following troubleshooting methods to fix not charging issue.

Method 4: Disconnect and then reconnect product from the charging cradle

There’s a possibility that the bottom of the Bluetooth speakers are not properly aligned and does not make direct contact to charging pins of the charging base. Remove the product from the charging cradle and then place it back in making sure that it is properly placed then check if the Bluetooth speaker is charging or still isn’t

Method 5: Bypass charging cradle

This means that if you are using a charging cradle to charge Bose Soundlink speaker, try to bypass it by connecting Bose Bluetooth speaker directly to the USB cable power supply.

Method 6: Enable Shipmode

Shipmode is a feature that protect the speakers battery if plan to not use it for a longer period of time. Basically, this method reboots the product but does not delete the settings saved.

To enable shipmode:

  1. Connect product to the USB power supply
  2. Press and hold multi function button for 10 seconds. The button is located in between volume up and volume down buttons.
  3. Unplug Bose speaker from the power outlet while still holding the multifunction button.
  4. Release Multi function button.

To disable shipmode, simply connect Soundlink Mini 2 to the power outlet.

After following the methods mentioned above, you will successfully fix Soundlink Mini II will not charge issue.
