How to charge your Galaxy Buds | 4 methods to charge Galaxy Buds
Charging your Galaxy Buds is one of the basic things that you should know as a user. You must charge your Galaxy Buds before you use if for the first time, or when you’re planning to use it for an extensive period. Make sure that the battery is fully charged to avoid problems while you’re using the earbuds. In this short tutorial, we’ll show you the easy steps to charge your Galaxy Buds.
How to charge your Galaxy Buds
There are four ways to charge your Galaxy Buds. This makes this gadget versatile as you have multiple options to top up the battery even if you’re away from your official Samsung accessories. Below are the methods to charge your earbuds.
Method 1: Charge your Galaxy Buds with USB cable
The Galaxy Buds can make use of USB charging just like most electronic gadgets are capable of right now. In fact, this is the main option to charge your earbuds. Make sure that you’re using the Samsung supplied USB Type-C cable that comes with the box to avoid incompatibility issues.
- Open the charging case.
- Check the direction of each earbud and correctly insert them into their corresponding slots in the charging case. The left earbug should be in the left slot and the other in the right slot. Interchanging the earbuds may damage them or cause problems when charging.
- Close the charging case.
- Connect the supplied USB Type-C cable to the charging case and plug the USB cable into a charger port.
- Plug the charger into an electric socket or to a compatible charging adapter.
NOTE: In order to avoid causing charging problems or damage to your Galaxy Buds, be sure to stick with official Samsung accessories. Usage of third party cable or adapter may allow too much transfer of power to the battery and may result to damage. If possible, use the charging cable and adapter of the Galaxy S10 or Note10 series. Older Samsung chargers may still work too charging rate may be slower due to lower electrical current. This is the same if you’re using third party cable or chargers.
Once the Galaxy Buds has been fully charged, be sure to disconnect the USB cable from the charging case.
Method 2: Charge your Galaxy Buds with wireless charger
Another way to charge your Galaxy Buds is by using a wireless charger. The charging case is equipped with wireless charging technology so a compatible wireless should work with it.
When using a wireless charger, be sure to check if there’s any metal or conductive material in between the charger and the charging case. This might slow down the charging rate and cause problems.
Below are the steps to use wireless charging on your Galaxy Buds:
- Open the charging case.
- Check the direction of each earbud and correctly insert them into their corresponding slots in the charging case. The left earbug should be in the left slot and the other in the right slot. Interchanging the earbuds may damage them or cause problems when charging.
- Close the charging case.
- Place the charging case in the middle of the wireless charger.
NOTE: Not all wireless chargers are compatible with your Galaxy Buds. If your Galaxy Buds don’t appear to be charging using a non-Samsung wireless charger, don’t force it. Remove it right away as it might lead to overheating or damage. Try to use the official Samsung Wireless charger as much as possible to avoid problems.
Method 3: Charge your Galaxy Buds with compatible phone
It’s only until recently that phones are starting to offer reverse wireless charging capability. Reverse wireless charging capability means that a phone can charge other devices wirelessly. At this time, there are only a couple of flagship phones that offer this functionality: the Galaxy S10 and Note10 series, and Huawei P30 Pro and Mate 20 Pro. If you have a Galaxy S10 series or Note10 series device, you can use it to charge your Galaxy Buds on the go. On these Samsung devices, this reverse wireless charging capability is called Wireless Powershare. To use this feature to charge your Galaxy Buds:
- Open the charging case.
- Check the direction of each earbud and correctly insert them into their corresponding slots in the charging case.
- Close the charging case.
- On the Mobile Device Quick Panel, turn on Wireless PowerShare.
- With your earbuds in the charging case, place the case against the center back of your Mobile Device.
- The location of the wireless charging coil may vary by device. Adjust the device and the charging case to make a strong connection.
- Once charging is done, separate the Galaxy Buds charging case from your phone.
Method 4: Charge your Galaxy Buds with a PC or other chargers
As mentioned above, you can use third party devices to top your Galaxy Buds. If you can’t access any official charging accessory, you can connect your Galaxy Buds to a powered USB port of a computer. Other charging adapters may also work. Keep in mind though that such third party power sources may not give the required electrical current so charging may be slow or may not work at all. The worst case scenario may be the fact that you can end up damaging your Buds using these charging options.
Charge using the charging case
You can check the battery level of each of the earbuds using the Galaxy Wearable app. Just open the app and check the remaining battery power in the Earbuds section. Be sure that your earbuds are actively connecting to the phone when doing this.
In case you don’t know it, the charging case of your Galaxy Buds has its own battery, which can, in turn, charge the earbuds on the go. If you’re running on juice on one or both earbuds, just put them inside the charging case, close it, then wait. The charging case should charge the earbuds overtime. Just make sure the charging case itself has full charge (indicated by green light) before using it to charge the earbuds.
