How to troubleshoot Galaxy A6 2018 that won’t charge

Before you begin troubleshooting software issues that might have prevented your new device from charging, verify and ensure that the following requisites are met:

  • Use the original charger/charging equipment. Other chargers may not be compatible with your phone therefore it won’t charge using them. You may be able to use some but it’s possible that the power output isn’t actually similar to that of the original charger. As much as possible, use only the charger that comes along with your phone or the one that’s supplied by Samsung itself.

Other power sources like computers, USB ports and other power accessories have low power outputs, thus may not be able to handle charge for your device. This often results to slow charging or no charging at all.
  • Do not use your phone while charging. Using the phone while charging is possible but not recommended. When this happens, the phone may not have proper contact with the charger or power source hence won’t be able to charge properly. Depending on what you’re doing, it will also cause your device to continuously drain, hence it would take longer time to charge up. If possible, turn off your phone while charging.
  • Ensure no damage to your phone or charging port. The worst possibility is that your phone, charger or charging port may have obtain some sort of physical or liquid damage and therefore unable to charge as intended. While this rarely occurs to new devices, it is possible. Should this be the case, don’t forget to avail for warranty. You may need to replace your charging cord or power adapter.
