How To Fix A Google Pixel 5 Stuck On Black Screen of Death
In this troubleshooting guide, we will show you how to fix a Google Pixel 5 stuck on black screen of death and won’t respond. Among the most common causes of this problem are the physical damage and a firmware crash. To learn more how to fix it, continue reading.
While the Pixel 5 is a pretty decent and stable device, there are still issues you may encounter every now and then. One of them is the black screen of death. It’s when the phone gets stuck on a black screen and would no longer respond. If you’re one of the users that’s bugged by this problem, here’s what you should do:
First solution: Make sure there are no signs of physical damage
Before doing anything, try to inspect your phone to see if there are signs of physical or liquid damage.
If the phone got stuck on a black screen due to physical damage, then it’s either the screen is broken, or you can find some scratches and dents on the sides or the back of the phone.
If it’s due to liquid damage, then most of the time, the charging port is wet. Make it a point to clean it or give it time to dry up.
If the problem started because of either physical or liquid damage, then there’s no point in troubleshooting it on your end since you can only do so much. You must have a technician check it for you.
Second solution: Perform the Forced Restart
Assuming that your phone doesn’t have any signs of liquid or physical damage, then it’s probably just due to a firmware crash. So the next thing you have to do is to force it to boot up. Most of the time, it’s the most effective solution to this problem. Here’s how it’s done:
- Press and hold the Power key for at least 8 seconds. This will often force your phone to boot up.
- So when the Google logo shows, release the Power key and wait until the boot process is finished.
The moment the logo shows, you can rest assured that the problem is fixed. However, if it’s still stuck on the black screen after that, then try the next solution.
Third solution: Charge and do the Forced Restart
If the first two solutions failed, then it’s possible that such a problem is caused by a drained battery. Sometimes the firmware crashes just before the battery runs out, and that might be the case here. So here’s what you should do:
- Plug the power adapter to a working wall outlet.
- Use the original charging cable to connect your phone to it.
- Regardless of whether the charging sign shows or not, leave it connected to the charger for at least 10 minutes.
- After that and while your Pixel phone is still connected to the charger, press and hold the power key for 8 seconds.
- When the Google logo shows, release the power key and wait until the boot process is finished.
If your Google Pixel 5 is still not turning on after these solutions, then it’s time you have it checked.
And that’s what you need to do to fix Pixel 5 stuck on black screen of death. We hope that this simple troubleshooting guide has been helpful.
