Please help me correct this problem I’m trying to call my family to let them know that I will be home from thanksgiving.

How to fix Galaxy J7 “Samsung Health has stopped working” error

Samsung Health is one of core Samsung apps that is found in all Galaxy devices. If your Galaxy J7 has been intermittently showing an error that’s related to this app, it’s possible that it may be bugged. In some cases, app errors are also just a sign of something deeper, such as a firmware coding issue. To fix “Samsung Health has stopped working” error, you need to do a series of troubleshooting steps.

Clear Samsung Health app cache and data

When it comes to app-specific troubleshooting, clearing the cache and data is a must. Sometimes, apps may not work properly if their cache is corrupted or outdated. To ensure that Samsung Health app cache is in good shape, try wiping its cache first. Here’s how:

  1. Open Settings app.
  2. Tap Apps.
  3. Tap on More settings at the upper right (three-dot icon).
  4. Select Show system apps.
  5. Find and tap your app.
  6. Tap Storage.
  7. Tap Clear cache button.
  8. Restart your Galaxy J7 and check for the problem.

Should nothing work after wiping your J7’s app cache, you can then clear the data.

  1. Open Settings app.
  2. Tap Apps.
  3. Tap on More settings at the upper right (three-dot icon).
  4. Select Show system apps.
  5. Find and tap your app.
  6. Tap Storage.
  7. Tap Clear data button.
  8. Restart your Galaxy J7 and check for the problem.

Clear cache partition

In some cases, apps may stop working normally if the system cache is corrupted. Try wiping the cache partition to see if there’s a difference.

  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key, then press and hold the Power key.
  3. When the green Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  4. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe cache partition’.
  5. Press Power button to select.
  6. Press the Volume down key until ‘yes’ is highlighted and press the Power button.
  7. When the wipe cache partition is complete, “Reboot system now” is highlighted.
  8. Press the Power key to restart the device.

Reset All Settings

If the problem still occurs at this point, the next good thing to do is to clear your phone’s settings. This will return software settings of your device without actually deleting personal data like when you do a factory reset. To do this, follow the steps below:

  1. From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
  2. Tap General Management > Reset settings.
  3. Tap Reset settings.
  4. If you have set up a PIN, enter it.
  5. Tap Reset settings. Once complete a confirmation window will appear.

Reset app preferences

Resetting app preferences is oftentimes overlooked in many Android troubleshooting articles but when it comes to an issue like yours, it might help a lot. It’s possible that one or some of your default apps may not be set correctly, causing this glitch to occur. Because there’s no way to know if this guess is true, what you need to do is to simply ensure that all default apps are turned on. Here’s how to do that:

  1. Open Settings app.
  2. Tap Apps.
  3. Tap on More settings at the upper right (three-dot icon).
  4. Select Reset app preferences.
  5. Restart your Galaxy J7 and check for the problem.

Observe in Safe Mode

Third party apps can sometimes cause other apps to fail or crash. To check if you a downloaded app is to blame, try to restart the phone to safe mode.

To boot your J7 to safe mode:

  1. Turn the device off.
  2. Press and hold the Power key past the model name screen.
  3. When “SAMSUNG” appears on the screen, release the Power key.
  4. Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume down key.
  5. Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.
  6. Safe mode will display in the bottom left corner of the screen.
  7. Release the Volume down key when you see Safe Mode.
  8. Let the phone run for at least 24 hours in this mode to see if there’s any difference. If Samsung Health app works normally in Safe Mode (won’t crash at random throughout the observation period), you can bet an app is to blame.

To identify which of your apps is causing the trouble, you should boot the phone back to safe mode and follow these steps:

  1. Boot to safe mode.
  2. Check for the problem.
  3. Once you’ve confirmed that a third party app is to blame, you can start uninstalling apps individually. We suggest that you begin with the most recent ones you added.
  4. After you uninstall an app, restart the phone to normal mode and check for the problem.
  5. If your Galaxy J7 is still problematic, repeat steps 1-4.
