A quick fix for Vivo V7 that doesn’t power up
More often than not, an issue like this is due to a system crash; it’s when the firmware stops working for some reason. While users who experience this problem may think it’s a serious problem, it’s actually not. Here are the things you can do to your Vivo V7 if it won’t turn on…
- Press and hold the Power key for 15 seconds – this is to make sure you’re holding the Power key long enough for the phone to respond.
- Press and hold the Volume Down and Power keys together for 10 seconds – this is what we call the Forced Restart procedure which will refresh your phone’s memory. If the problem occurred due to a system crash, this will take care of the problem and force your device to boot up.
These procedures are more than enough to fix the problem provided it’s a minor issue with the firmware. If it persists after doing these, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a serious one but you will have to do some more troubleshooting procedures to determine what it’s all about and whether or not it can be fixed without any help from a tech.

Make sure there’s no sign of liquid damage
This must be the first thing you should do before doing any troubleshooting to your phone to prevent further damage…
- Look into the USB or charger port to find traces of moisture.
- Regardless whether the port shows moist or not, clean the area with a cotton swab or insert a small piece of tissue.
Had the phone been dipped in water, it shouldn’t be powered up to prevent further damage. Instead, remove the SIM and SD card and bring the phone to the service center as soon as possible so the technician can open it up and dry out the components that were touched by liquid.
But assuming the phone is free from any signs of liquid damage, continue troubleshooting your device.
Try to run your Vivo V7 in Recovery Mode
The purpose of this troubleshooting guide is for us to determine if the phone is still capable of turning on its components because if so, then we can fix the problem with a reset. So, the next thing that you should do is try to run the phone into its Recovery Mode. The moment the phone boots up in this mode, the problem is already fixed or at least downgraded into a booting problem instead of a power issue. Here’s how to boot your phone into its Recovery Mode…
- Press and hold the Volume Up button and don’t let go.
- Press and hold the Power key while holding the Volume Up button.
- Keep both keys held for 8 seconds or until the screen turns on.
Should the screen turn on, try to see if you can find an option that says “Recovery Mode” or “Wipe Data.” If you see recovery mode then select it using the Volume Down button and press the Power key to choose it. If however, you see the wipe data option, it means reset and you may lose all your files and data saved in your phone’s internal storage. Select it if you wish to continue but I suggest you try to reboot the phone first to see if it boots up this time.
If the phone is still not booting up in recovery mode, then it’s possible that the problem is with the hardware. At this point, it’s better that you bring the phone to the service center to have a technician check it for you. If there’s any significant events that happened prior to the problem, tell the tech about them so he would know where to start.
But assuming the phone booted up in recovery mode but won’t boot up successfully when started in normal mode, a reset may be able to fix it. So, boot it up into recovery mode again and choose wipe data to perform the Master Reset.
