Fix Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus with “Unfortunately, Calendar has stopped” error (easy steps)
The error message “Unfortunately, Calendar has stopped” on your Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus means that the default calendar application has crashed. The cause of the crash maybe a minor issue with the app itself or it could be just a symptom of a more serious firmware problem. The error message may show up when you open the calendar app or any app that uses the app. Other owners reported that calendar crashes whenever they enter a new entry but regardless how the error shows up, the problem remains the same and you have to do something about it.
In this post, I will walk you through in troubleshooting your Galaxy S9 Plus that’s plagued by this error message. I will share with you the solution I’ve been using to address this kind of problem. This isn’t the first time I encountered this error so I already know what works and what not. If you’re one of the owners of this device and are currently bugged by a similar issue, continue reading as this article may be able to help you one way or another.

How to deal with “Calendar has stopped” error on Galaxy S9 Plus
Generally, this problem is pretty minor and most of the time it’s an issue with the calendar itself. But as I said earlier, there’s a possibility that it’s just a symptom of a more serious firmware issues considering the fact that it’s a pre-installed application. You would know if it’s a minor or a serious problem depending on how your phone reacts to the following procedures…
Reboot your phone – before doing anything complicated, make sure you take a little time rebooting your phone especially if it’s the first time that you encountered this issue because it could be just a result of a glitch in the system. Glitches happen all the time and some applications may be affected by them but don’t worry, those glitches can actually be fixed by a reboot. Or better yet, try doing the forced restart by pressing and holding together the volume down and power keys for 10 seconds or more. After which, try to open the calendar app to see if the error still shows up and if it still does, then try the next step.
Run phone in safe mode – contrary to what others think that running the phone in safe mode would fix the problem, well it won’t. The purpose of this procedure is for us to know if the problem is caused by a third-party app or not. In safe mode, all third-party apps are temporarily disabled so if one of them is causing the issue, then you wouldn’t see the error when the phone is in that environment. In such case, the next thing you should do is find out which app causes the problem and uninstall it. However, if the error is still popping up while the phone is in safe mode, then the problem could be with the firmware.
Wipe cache partition – if the error started showing up after an update, it’s possible that some of the system caches got corrupted. While they’re small files, they will cause performance issues when they get corrupted or become obsolete. You cannot deleted a system cache individually but you can erased them all at once. You have to run your phone in recovery mode and wipe the cache partition from there. After which, the system will replace deleted caches with new ones. If the problem still occurs after this, then you have to do the next procedure.
Perform the master reset – this is the ultimate solution to any persistent app issues. After doing the previous procedures and the problem still keeps on happening, then backup all your files and data or those that you don’t want to lose and then reset your phone to bring it back to its factory settings. If you don’t know your google ID and password, it’s better to remove it from your phone prior to the reset so that you won’t be locked out.

How to run phone in Safe mode
- Turn the device off.
- Press and hold the Power key past the model name screen appearing on the screen.
- When SAMSUNG appears on the screen, release the Power key.
- Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume down key.
- Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.
- When Safe mode appears in the bottom left corner of the screen, release the Volume down key.
How to uninstall applications
- From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
- Tap Settings > Apps.
- Tap the desired application in the default list.
- To display preinstalled apps, tap Menu > Show system apps.
- Tap UNINSTALL > OK.
How to wipe cache partition
- Turn off the device.
- Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
- When the Android logo displays, release all three keys.
- An ‘Installing system update’ message will show for 30 – 60 seconds before the Android system recovery menu options appear.
- Press the Volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition.
- Press Power key to select.
- Press the Volume down key to highlight yes, them and press the Power key to select.
- When the wipe cache partition is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted.
- Press the Power key to restart the device.
How to perform the Master Reset
- Turn off the device.
- Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
- When the green Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
- Press the Volume down key several times to highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset’.
- Press Power button to select.
- Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted.
- Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
- When the master reset is complete, ‘Reboot system now’ is highlighted.
- Press the Power key to restart the device.
